For motocross racers, the holidays are a time to rest, eat too much and hopefully, find lots of moto goodies under the tree. Whether you need to burn off some of those calories, put some Christmas presents to good use, or both, the 2006 AMP/GFI Winter Motocross series is the place to do it. Both northern and southern California have full 5-round racing schedules starting as early as this weekend.

In the northern region, gates will open at 4 PM the Friday prior to each event for overnight parking, close at 9PM on Saturday night and re-open at 6:30 AM on Sunday. Saturday open practices for all bikes and classes will be held from 8 AM until 2 PM. Signups will be available during practice and starting at 6:30 AM on race days. Southern region riders should check with the individual tracks regarding practice sessions and parking/camping availability and prices.
Race day practice will start at 8 AM. Racing will start immediately after
practice and follow an order to be determined at each round.
Fees:
*Saturday Practice (north): $15 per rider ($10 for 50cc age 8 & under)/$1 per spectator
*Sunday Gate Fee (north): $10 per person (age 5 & under free)
Sportsman Race Entry: $30 per class, $5 off second class entry
50cc Race Entry: $25 per class, $5 off second class entry
Pro Race Entry: $25 per class (200% payback for Pro, 100% for all others)
Annual GFI Membership: $35
1-Day GFI Membership: $5 per class
*South practice and gate fees determined by tracks
Trophies:
100% in 50cc classes at each round
33% in Sportsman classes at each round
Series end: 5-foot for 1st place, 4-foot for 2nd, 3-foot for 3rd, plaques for
4th and 5th (Pros excluded)
Rules:
Riders must have valid GFI membership and compete in at least 4 of the 5 rounds
to be eligible for series points, awards and prizes. Membership must be
purchased prior to second round. Each class must have 5 riders per round to
qualify for series awards. Series winners must be present at final round. All
