so valve maintainence is not
so valve maintainence is not that big of a deal for the power u gain. buy yurself a hotcams shim kit for yur bike off ebay and u will be fine. shimming yur bike only needs to be done every couple of months and only takes 15 minutes to do. even less when u get the hang of it. many people just dont realize that there is not that much maintainence to 4 strokes. also if u really dont want to deal with it u can get rid of the crap titanium valves and throw in a nice set of stainless valves. titanium wears exceptionally compared to steel, the only reason they use titanium is because it is noticeabley lighter than steel.

Aw im a 2 stroke fan :). The yzfs are pretty good. Crfs are vavle eating monsters.
go for a 125
honestly ive been a 4 strroke guy but i wanna get a yz 125
the other guy is right one u hit 250 ccs on a 4 stroke they burn the hell out of valves
plus a 125 will beat a 250f any day but none the less the 250f is a great bike for trails and such but not racing

Na i will give 4 stroke this,
Na i will give 4 stroke this, If your RACING motocross go 4 stroke. If your into a bit of everything go 2 stroke.
blackwell37, how can u honest
blackwell37, how can u honestly say that a 2 stroke will beat a 4 stroke. u should read this post here and see y u could never justify wat u just said.

learn to read
i said the 2 stroke would destroy the 250f u retard
but i am sayinf the 250f is great for deep trail riding read the damn words
by the way 4 strokes are starting to beat 2's i no i dont like it but its happening
wow u r dumb
lemme rephrase that last one the yz 125 would destroy the 250f on track but any other area would be beat
o one more thing yamaha isnt the greatest brands for 4 strokess
i love yahmaha but honda is a 4 stroke power go read the specs on the crf150r expert 14300 rpms
i will say that fours hav already taken over the racing industry and in one to two years twos will be done but as for right now there are some 2's that are still extremely powerful like the yz 125
so, tell me lil fella y the p
so, tell me lil fella y the pros use 4 strokes on the TRACK? arent the pros always tryin to have the best? ya thats right, they do have the best, 4 strokes. as far as yamaha and its 4 strokes, fuc them they suck. yamaha is great for 2 strokes though. honda is great with 4 strokes. and ya, the yz125 is a powerful bike but wats it rev to? 12000 maybe, my rmz250 will outrev that bike in a heartbeat at 14000. i thought 2 strokes were all about the high rpms, o thats right, thats the only place where u can get power out of them unlike a 4 stroke. also i dont kno y u are calling me dumb, i showed a dyno chart of a yz250f vs. a yz125. in my opinion the yz125 is the best 2 stroke out there and a yz250f is the crapiest 4 stroke, yet look how the yz250f has more power than the yz125 at almost all times. so u sayin yamaha isnt great for 4 strokes just made yur argument for 2 strokes suck even more when the crappy yz250f tore apart the yz125. also did u read the reviews on the page the dyno chart was on? not much good to say about the yz125 compared to the yz250f. u tried

stats
im like 5'5 but im expericaned enough to lay down the big bikes even though im small compared against the most guys in my class I AM RACING NEXT YEAR but truly have enough money to pay for $200 for valves every freaken three races consdiring in trail or practice riding alone i put 80 hours on my 100
so i dont know wat u are sayi
so i dont know wat u are saying. are u sayin u have the money to replace valves every 3 races are were u trying to say that u dont? also buy a nice set of kibblewhite stainless steel valves for $228 including springs and u will never have to worry about valve life again. plus if u ever need valves again they are only $120 for all 4. u dont need to buy springs every time. ya stainless is heavier but u will not notice a power diff over titanium.

Blackwell. 4 strokes would wo
Blackwell. 4 strokes would woop a 2 stroke around a mx track, And im a big 2 stroke fan here. Out in the trails though and races like Gncc and stuff the 2 strokes seem to be better. Yeah i owned a yz125 ive been on many yz125s Then i had a go off a yzf250 that was way quicker than any 125 ive been on. In the woods though the 250f sucked, Yes and i had a go of a brand new crf250 yeah over rated thats all i can say, I was really looking forward to having a shot off it. Then after my go i just wanted to get off it.
And Btw, 2 strokes are ment to be having a big come back due to ordinary riders no being able to aford the 4 strokes.
tig i hav argued with u before
im not saying that 2 strokes in general would beat 4 strokes on a track im just saying that the yz125 would beat yzf250 on track
honestly u can disagree but the yz125 is a hell of a bike
o and r u really serios about 2 strokes coming back and in what year do u tthink
almost anything can beat a ya
almost anything can beat a yamacrap, but anyway a typical fourstroke would kill a two stroke, in almost anything,
money
im just saying that if its going to cost like 200 every two weeks for valves then i probaly couldnt afford it when i would just get a 2 stroke and replace the top end whenever it blow up for $100 top
blackwell837 I AGREE with the
blackwell837 I AGREE with the fact that a yz125 would tear a yz250f apart. now if the yz125 was up against a more suitable bike like a new 07 rmz250 or a crf250r tables are most likely gonna be turned. and as far as valves every two weeks, change yur oill more often if u go through valves that quick. its a solid piece of metal, it doesnt wear out that quick!!!! as long as u take care of yur valves and keep the clearances right u will be fine for a long time. when i bought my 04 rmz250 it had the stock titanium valves in it and they still had some life in them and it wasnt even taken care of properly. the bike was raced also. now with stainless in there, thats a long time before i have to replace valves again and like i said only $120-140 for the new set.

o and as far as 2 strokes coming back, i hate to disapoint people but they are not. 2 strokes are being discontinued by almost companies by 2010. many companies however plan on selling them still, just the old stock they have, no new inovattions. u will still be able to buy 2 strokes new for a long time, but they are ending. pollution is one of their biggest killers especially in california. try even getting a red sticker for a 2 stroke. they will be around for a long time so dont worry, just no new cool features.

HAHA FINALLY
ME AND TIG AGREED ON SOMETHING
Yeah the yz125 is a great bik
Yeah the yz125 is a great bike but no way is it anything like a yzf250 why would factory riders ride a yzf250 if yz125s would piss all over them???.
I said 2 strokes are coming back for ordinary people who cant aford the racing expences unlike all the pros, the 2t is such a simple instrument that they can be made to run forever for minimal cost. A head for a 2t is $200, for a 4t $1500 minimum. KTM are big into there 2 strokes the Exc200 is rated one of the best enduro bikes ever made, Some even say its the only woods bike to buy. When the time comes that they really clamp down on 2 stroke emmisions, They will Worry about it then, Anyways gas gas have already made a new exhaust catalist that makes them meet the euro 2 emmision standards.

almost everyones did exept for ktm, fourstrokes are all around better bikes, not trying to disrespect any two stroke people or bikes though, but they require more shifting and maintance
