MX1/MX2 - Hard weekend for KTM at Agueda

Steve Ramon took fourth place for Team Red Bull KTM at Agueda and the Grand Prix of Portugal this afternoon, round three of seventeen in the FIM MX1 World Championship.

The Belgian notched results of ninth and fourth to place fourth overall and miss out on the podium by just one point. His team-mate and Spanish GP winner Ben Townley had a difficult day after collisions with other riders limited his chances of a good result.

The track was very wet and swampy for the first motos until the rain subsided and the Portuguese dirt began to dry. The course was technical and bumpy and the single racing line made overtaking a tough prospect.

Piney Woods Enduro

This was going to be my breakout race. The one where I finally get to ride terrain that I like and ride it the way I like to ride...fast. The part that I didn’t count on was that apparently everyone else had exactly the same idea. And most of them were faster than me.

Keith and I rolled out of Dallas Saturday morning for the 6.5 hour drive to Cravens Louisiana for the Piney Woods Enduro. The drive out was uneventful and we got to the race site well before dark and in plenty of time to sign in, go through the sound check and get our camp set up for the night. We requested an early row and were assigned row 9, which is where I usually like to ride. We put our numbers on the bikes and gas cans and finished up the camp chores then decided to drive into Leesville for some supper.

WR Pipe Mod

Pistonfat Rider put together these excellent pictures and steps to open up your WR 450 F exhaust pipe.

1. drill around existing tailpipe with 3/16" drill. [image:4721]

2. grab onto tailpipe with pliers, give it a twist [image:4722]

3. pull it out from the muffler [image:4723]

4. mark out a hole to suit the new tailpipe (trace around the pipe) you intend to use. I used 1.5" stainless tube. File out the hole smooth with a half round file. The metal is thin and easily filed [image:4724]

Moto XXX Gains Confidence on the Track

With just two rounds of the THQ AMA Supercross series remaining, Moto XXX is reaching mid-season form and turning in consistent results. At the most recent round, held in Seattle’s new Qwest Field, both Kyle Lewis and Justin Buckelew placed themselves in the 250cc main event and rode with confidence for 20 laps. The 2005 season has seen such stiff competition in the 250cc class, that it’s been rare to see privateer teams place multiple riders in the mains. With the outdoor season just around the corner, those kinds of performances couldn’t come at a better time.

Justin Buckelew led the way in Seattle by finishing 13th in the main, his best 250 class finish of the year. Of course, “J-Buck

TE510 Gearing

Bike type
2005 Husqvarna TE510

After Pauls Ride, I decided that the TE could handle being geared a little higher, which would also make it work less at cruising speed.

It comes standard with a 14 tooth front sprocket, and a 50 tooth rear. On purchase i'd got the 14 replaced with a 15, as I'd already heard that it was geared low.

On thumpertalk, some guys have gone to a 16 tooth front, but it can hit the shifter on downshifts.

Oasis in the 'Desert' - Bismarck Tribune

Maybe this reprised oldie has turned golden again.

An estimated 200 dirt-bike and ATV riders turned out Sunday for the 21st century revival of what used to be Wednesday night cross-country races at Kimball Bottoms.

"I was shocked," Tammy Bohn, a member of the North Dakota Off Road Association, which sponsored the event, said Sunday. "We thought we might be lucky and have 100 (racers)."

The return of organized dirt-bike events in the "Desert," that sandy, undulating and rutted terrain that lies adjacent to the Missouri River south of Bismarck, came more than 30 years after similar Wednesday night races there faded away.

Blake Hore Race Report - Yamaha Vic Offroad Series

Christiansen's Yamaha Offroad rider Blake Hore has recorded an outright fourth place at round two of the Yamaha Victorian Offroad Championship at Welshpool, Victoria, last Sunday, April-17.

The day didn't start the best for the 19-year-old Pro Class rider when he was last to leave the start and faced a tough race to make his way past the fast starters. Once underway though he settled into a steady rhythm in the three hour race and soon worked himself into fourth place. Eventual race winner Cameron Taylor and Jehi Willis had made an early break and had to much of a lead for Hore to be a serious challenger for the outright honors, but he was closing fast on third placed Rohan Crouch and looking good for a podium position.
