Ricky Carmichael looks to win his tenth AMA championship next weekend. James Stewart wins his 12th moto in a row, 125 points battle tightens.
250's: Ricky Carmichael won the overall with 2/1 finishes. He fell in the first moto, but still finished runner-up to Kevin Windham. Windham finished second overall by winning the first moto, and following Carmichael in the second. With a tie on points (47 each) the better second moto finish gives RC the overall nod. At round 11 in PA next weekend, Carmichael can wrap up his tenth AMA Pro-Racing Championship. He leads Windham 479 to 416 in points. Yamaha team-mates Tim Ferry 5/3, Chad Reed 4/4, and David Vuillemin 3/5 tied on points (36 each), with Ferry taking the third overall position.
125's: James Stewart is doing all that he can by winning both motos today by huge margins. That's six overalls, and 12 moto wins in a row for James. Shades of RC last year. James sits right behind Langston and Hughes in the points with 300.
Grant Langston is the points leader with two more races to go. He finished fifth overall today - tenth in the first moto after falling, and third in the finale. Grant has 345 points.
Ryan Hughes keeps on coming, even after suffering a broken leg earlier in the season. He gained points on the top position again with his third overall placing today. He had a second in the first moto, and after falling in the second he came back up to sixth position. Ryan has 335 points.
Questions still to be answered: Can James Stewart win the 125 title after missing the first four rounds? How will KTM manage their team with Grant Langston and Ryan Hughes in the top two positions?
Notes: No Mike Brown this weekend - he's done for the season because of the shoulder injury. Bad luck for Brock Sellards - looked like he had second overall wrapped up until the very end, when he had some sort of fall or mechanical problem.
