05' crf/x 250
I own a Ca. model crf//x 250 and I'm looking for more power. I opened the air box, cut the gray wire, fmf power bomb header and Q pipe, changed the main jet to a 140 & pilot to a 45, added power now & power now plus but I still tap out the rev limiter and have to shift alot. Is a crf cam the way to go or should I look for a big bore kit ? I love this bike I just need a bit more power. Any tips ? Dirty Al
My take
My take on this Al is that you should probably stop spending money on the 250f, and trade it on a 450f.
Doing anything more to the 250 will just reduce its reliability. You could grab a stock 450f, have more power and not have to spend any money at all.
Sure, it weighs a little more, but thats the price you pay.
I had a slightly modded WR250F (pipe, yz cam) and have gone went to a Husky 510 for the reasons above.
Light small capacity bikes are fun, and make you feel like a champion cause you've got it flat stick everywhere, but there is no substitute for cubic inches in the power stakes.
