Husqvarna Racing headed to The Yamaha Queensland Championships held at Woodstock , Townsville on the weekend to take home 1st place in the Junior 2 stroke 13-15 years and 3rd in the Junior 250cc class. Jake Wright from Cairns couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. His Husqvarna 144cc didn’t miss a beat.
In race 1, Jake started the race in 4th position and quickly positioned himself into 2nd place, where he finished behind Shaun Redhead with a 1second difference.
In race 2 Jake watched Redhead and Jackson challenging each other which eventually led to their demise. Jake went on to win the race.
In race 3, Jake was in the middle of the pack into the first corner, the power of his Husqvarna 144cc soon allowed him to move through the field finishing in 2nd place. Overall Husqvarna Jake Wright won the day, 6 points ahead of Yamaha Shaun Redhead.
Husqvarna Jake Wright also raced in the 250 class. The two races he competed in gave him an overall 3rd position on the podium for the day.
Unfortunately a serious crash in the Pro Lites, saw Ford Dale transferred by Helicopter to hospital. The rest of days racing were cancelled.
“The track was extremely dusty and rough but it didn’t seem to faze me. The Pirelli tyres gripped well and my Husqvarna rode smoothly and didn’t miss a beat” said Jake.
Round 2 of the Queensland titles will be held at Emerald next month.
Jake now prepares himself for the challenge of stepping into the AOR Enduro, to be held in Blayney, in two weeks time.
