The first half of the 2004 Supercross season has, without a doubt, had its ups and downs, but Moto XXX and Damon Huffman couldn't be happier with the way things have gone. After multiple top five finishes, a holeshot and several inspired performances, "H-Diddy" has a 19-point lead on the rest of the field in the World SXGP championship hunt.
The most recent rounds in Minneapolis and Atlanta have yielded encouraging results. Damon finished fifth in Minneapolis, where he was one of three Honda CRF450 pilots in the top five. The following week in Atlanta, he earned the Butterfinger Holeshot award for putting the #20 machine through the first turn ahead of the other nineteen riders.
After leading the Atlanta race early, Damon suffered a setback when he caught his foot in a rut. The resulting discomfort in one of his ankles prompted him to pull off the track and get it looked at. Thankfully, nothing was broken or torn, just painfully twisted. Damon is spending this week at home in California undergoing therapy to make sure that he is ready for Daytona.
Speaking of Daytona, Moto XXX will be joining the Bike Week festivities, which are highlighted by the historic Supercross. Held on the Speedway infield, the Daytona race presents one of the biggest challenges of the year. It won't count toward the World SXGP championship, but Damon also has the AMA series where he is currently sixth to consider as well.
The Daytona Supercross will mark a first for fans of Moto XXX. During open pit hours on Saturday, the team race bikes will be available for an up-close look. Fans will be able to look at, touch and even pose for pictures on the bikes that Damon Huffman, Kyle Lewis, Larry Ward and Jamey Grosser compete on. This opportunity will be available to fans on a first come, first served basis.
Making the Daytona trip that much more special is the addition of First City Honda to the team. FCH is one of the premier dealerships in Florida and a welcome member of the Moto XXX family for this epic event. Make sure to stop by the First City Honda display in the Daytona Supercross pits.
