Just to give some people a greater insight into 2 and 4 stroke engines I have a bit of interesting info and a good comparison of a 250 4stroke and a 125 2stroke:

Here's a good comparison, note the horse-power ratings, torque ratings and the RPMs:
2005 CR125---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Significant changes to the air intake boot and a new 36mm Mikuni TM-x carburetor and new cylinder porting give the engine a boost in performance to improve mid-range and over-rev power delivery. Combined with
significant weight reductions achieved on the frame, rear brakes and hub design, the power to weight ratio gives the CR125R capacity to deliver dynamic bursts of power to ensure its place at the top of its class.
Refined rider comfort and ergonomics are matched to the new frame design enhancing maneuverability and control giving a high-flying ride reflecting its works lineage and championship-dominating heritage.
* Engine Type Liquid-cooled 2-stroke single
* Engine Displacement 124.8cm3
* Bore & Stroke 54 x 54.8mm

2005 CRF250R------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small bike that everybody can enjoy. Sure to become one of the mostpopular dirt bikes on the planet, the lightweight and easy-riding CRF250R provides just theright combination of performance and handling for long days of riding fun.

nice job
thats a good comparison, i'd have a 2 stroke over a 4 any day
2 stroke is crap
the only thing 2 stroke is good for is mx
mate ur confused
ur confused mate u forgot to say that 2 strokes are good for supercross and fmx aswell motocross.
Mate it isn't my fault u can't handle a 2 stroke.
yeh i know 2 stokes are mad.
yeh i know 2 stokes are mad.
2stroke......
2 stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2troke......2stroke.........2 stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2troke......2stroke.........2 stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2troke......2stroke.........2 stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2stroke.....2troke......2stroke.........
2 srokes are best
2 strokes are the best i use mine for everythin trail ridin, racin, hillcmin
jeez mate
stop saying mate, but ya id agree 2strokes are better but they are also harder to handle
2 Stroke
there is no comparrison the 2 stroke machine is better than 4 strokes hands down. the only good a 4 stroke is good for is going round the farm so it doesnt scare the animals. thats the only real use for them. anyone that doesnt like a 2 stroke are just people that wish they could ride fast but cant so they go to a 4 stroke and double the dissplacement of the bike from their mates(who all ride 2 strokes coz they can ride) and the torque of the bike allows slower riders to feel fast. well im a 2 stroke fan for sure. holla
no way four strokes are way b
no way four strokes are way better
2 stroke all the way
2 strokes are just better bikes you try a top end rebild on a cr-250
even i can do a 2 stroke
Go 2 stroke!
Remember, Its not fast, without mixed gas!
PC or Mac, Ford or Holden, Yamaha or Honda!
I own a wr250f and i love it, but I also like 2 strokes just as much, my first bike was a 2t, my opinion is that neither is better, thier just different.
Cheers,
Felix
2-4
2 strokes are sweet there sic i got a 125, but if i could afford to maintain one id buy a four stroke.
BTW
BTW...Im getting an RGV250 for my first road bike (2t).
Felix
wat ar u on
2 strokes ar piss better than 4 strokes at supercross and its just that u cant handle a 2 stroke
just u cant ride 1
its not my fault u cant ride a 2 stroke
i rest my case...well not entirely
well ther u go ppl this is y i say 2 strokes r better y buy a bigger cc engin to do the came job..is it so wen ppl ask wat bike u got u look like a big man cos the numbers are higher...
Ride it like u stole
i have a 2 stroke
the 2 strokes are a good bike fast and very light, and come out of the corners reall nice i think. but there staring to die down i have a yz 125 ya its got a ton of power no doght. but its like a long time ago 2 strokes were the best a long time ago like in the 80 s and early 90 s , but now the 4 strokes have turned the tables the 2 stroke i hate to say it is slowly dieing. this is because u can race a 250 4 stroke though in a 125 2 stroke class thats twice the bike!!! and the 2 stroke is still hanging on same with the 2 stroke 250 u can race a 450 4 stroke in that class. but if u really look at it the the 2 strokes are better because the 2 stroke has more power than a 4 stroke 125 and a 250 2 stroke has more power than a 250 4 stroke does and so on. its not fare though that u can race a 250 four stroke in a 125 2 stroke class and that u can race a 450 4 stroke in a 250 2 stroke class. but cuase the 4 strokes use to suck so bad they had no suspension and they were really heavy they figured that it would be fair to race twicee the cc what i mean is that a 250 is 2ce the cc of a 125 so that was fair then but look at them now there way better some one needs to change the rules its not fair any more but the 2 stokes are cool, i personly think the 2 strokes are better but on this one its all the rider
racing classes
I understand what you are saying, but the racing classes are pretty fair because a 250 4t is about equivalent in power and weight to a 125 2t and a 450 4t is also about equivalent to a 250 2t in power and weight. Racing a 125 4 stroke against 125 2t wouldn't be fair, it would have about half the power of the 2 strokes.
Felix
2- strokes
why would you chose a 2 stroke? every body is switching to thumpers
2 strokes
why do you say this? both types have plenyy of power
ya i agree
ya i agree
4 all the wayy!!!
4 all the wayy!!!
I hate to say it but over her
I hate to say it but over here in europe 2 strokes are comin back big time in enduro. And i love seenin it happen.
4 strokes are for girls that
4 strokes are for girls that cant handle the power band
4 all the way
i;d say four stroke some people say a 2 stroke is faster but put in a new cam and a exhaust and you will out run any 2 stroke taht is the same engine size
ya
ya what if the two stroke puts v force reeds, fmf exhaust, shves the head, puts a uni filter, drills out the air box, and gets a jet kit. then whats would happen. the 2 stroke would kik ass. hard. doesnt matter if ur bike can beat one on a road its all about power when and where you need most. a two stroke will never let you down.
2 strokes
I like both bikes 2 and 4 stroke but i prefer 2 strokes because i find them more fun. Plus they are 3 times cheaper to rebuild, and you can keep them running while their upside down or on the ground, and even if they stall u dont have to kick the shit out of them for it to start. Thats why people use them for fmx because they can run upside down and any way you can tilt them.
maybe
well if you really want to get down to it you can do a piston kit,a cam,new valves valve springs a bigger exhaust air filter a jet kit once again like you said drill out the air box and a lot more, and i do like two strokes myself i have one but with my bike right now witch is a fourstroke i race anybody thats wants to but i also do a lot of off road riding and the fourstroke is a lot better on gas and when your in the middle of the woods the last thing you want is to run out gas, but in the end twostroke vs fourstroke its all about what you like personally i think when you really get down to it there pretty close.
IM WITH YOU DUDE REAL MEN RID
IM WITH YOU DUDE REAL MEN RIDE 4 STROKES ALWAYS HAVE!
