19-year-old Blake Hore made the trip north to Raymond Terrace, just outside Newcastle NSW, over the weekend (Apr 23-24) to compete in the debut of the Yamaha National Offroad Series. Promoters, Dirtbike promotions had done a great job of providing the competitors with a great circuit an a professional looking event.
The Christensens Motorcycles backed rider had a weekend of ups and downs but for the most part the ups far outweighed the downs. Taking his Yamaha WR450F to a 16th in Saturdays opening round and 6th on Sunday's second round, Blake was up beat and pleased with how he performed over the two days.
"It was a great event", commented Blake. "I had a crash on Saturday whilst running 7th outright in the third heat, the crash itself was nothing major but my front brake got caught in the hand guard and it cost me quite a bit of time before I realised what was happening, at this level even 10 seconds can cost you big time and in this case I dropped all the way back to 16th. I was still happy with the way I rode and had a nice rhythm going."
"Day 2 went a lot better for me and without the crashes my results looked a lot healthier. Overall I consider the weekend a personal success. I have looked up to these guys for years and to be here racing with them is a great
experience. I am looking forward to the next round where my focus will be on improving on the goals I set myself , gaining more experience and having fun."
"I would like to thank my old man and my sponsors who all do a great job and let me focus on what I have to do, they are a huge part of where I am today and without them the job would be a lot harder"
Blake's next race will be the 3rd and 4th round of the Yamaha Victorian Offroad Championship this coming weekend at Erica.
