Christiansen's Yamaha Offroad rider Blake Hore has recorded an outright fourth place at round two of the Yamaha Victorian Offroad Championship at Welshpool, Victoria, last Sunday, April-17.
The day didn't start the best for the 19-year-old Pro Class rider when he was last to leave the start and faced a tough race to make his way past the fast starters. Once underway though he settled into a steady rhythm in the three hour race and soon worked himself into fourth place. Eventual race winner Cameron Taylor and Jehi Willis had made an early break and had to much of a lead for Hore to be a serious challenger for the outright honors, but he was closing fast on third placed Rohan Crouch and looking good for a podium position.
The dusty conditions would eventually take there toll though when a clogged air filter threw a spanner in the works as he had narrowed the gap to Crouch to ten seconds. Manual intervention was called for and after the offending filter was quickly dusted off buy the side of the track he got back into the thick of it to finish fourth.
"I am pretty happy with the weekend really" commented Hore. " There where a few niggling little dramas with the bike but in reality Cameron and Jehi where too good on the day. I had a good shot at Crouch but in the end he rode a good race and deserved his spot. I learnt a few lessons along the way that will make me a better rider in the future".
"I feel very confident that I will be in the hunt for a title this year", Hore added. "The first round two weeks ago, where I placed second to Brad Williscroft was really encouraging and did a great deal for my confidence. I now know I have the speed to run at the front and am working hard on putting it all together" he concluded.
Blake now sits second in the Yamaha Victorian Offroad Championship, 2 points behind leader Willis.
Blake's next race will be the first round of the Yamaha National Offroad Series which begins at Raymond Terrace (NSW) on the 23rd and 24 of April.
