Reigning Regional Supercross Champion Langston Wins his First Race of the Season
ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 21, 2006) – Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael, of Haines City, Fla., won his second consecutive Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series race in front of a sold-out (45,050 fans) Angel Stadium. Kawasaki’s Grant Langston, of Clermont, Fla., won his first AMA Supercross Lites race of the season. Tonight’s race will air on CBS Sports tomorrow, January 22, at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Honda’s David Vuillemin, of Frisco, Texas, won the Toyota Holeshot Award in The AMA Supercross main event with Suzuki’s Ivan Tedesco in tow and Honda’s Jeremy McGrath in third. Tedesco moved into the lead on lap 1. Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., worked his way into the lead on lap four and one lap later, Carmichael pulled into second place. Carmichael chased Stewart the next 14 laps, until Stewart crashed into a lapped rider. Carmichael rode off to his second win of the season, Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., finished second and Stewart was third.
Tonight’s sell-out marks the second consecutive sell-out for Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series racing at Angel Stadium this season.
