U.S. House hears testimony on measure to designate 24 million acres of public land as Wilderness

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) submitted comments today to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources arguing against a bill that would designate more than 24 million acres of public land in Western states as Wilderness or Wilderness Preservation System land.

The hearing was held in the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands of the Committee on Natural Resources. The legislation is H.R. 980, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act.

U.S. House passes resolution declaring May Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing House Resolution 269 today, which designates May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

In addition to the designation, H.R. 269 highlights several safety measures for motorcyclists, including the voluntary use of helmets and other protective gear, avoiding riding while under the influence of alcohol, and getting proper training and licensing before operating a motorcycle on public roads.

HUSQVARNA JAKE WRIGHT WINS ROUND 1 AT QLD TITLES

Husqvarna Racing headed to The Yamaha Queensland Championships held at Woodstock , Townsville on the weekend to take home 1st place in the Junior 2 stroke 13-15 years and 3rd in the Junior 250cc class. Jake Wright from Cairns couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. His Husqvarna 144cc didn’t miss a beat.

In race 1, Jake started the race in 4th position and quickly positioned himself into 2nd place, where he finished behind Shaun Redhead with a 1second difference.

Victory for Despres in Tunisia Rally

Cyril Despres triumphed over fellow KTM factory teammate Marc Coma in the final eleventh stage of the Tunisia Rally to steal overall victory in the second round of the 2009 World Championship and level the score at 1-1 between the two rivals.
Right from day one of the 4500 km route it was clear that the two KTM riders were going to be each other's toughest rivals. But with the world's top six riders all onboard KTM machines the Tunisia Rally was clearly an overwhelming victory for the cult brand "Made in Austria" machines.

Red Bull KTM's Shaun Simpson undergoes successful surgery for broken leg

Red Bull KTM MX2 Factory Rider Shaun Simpson underwent successful surgery to repair a broken leg in the early hours of Thursday morning, team officials have reported.
The fracture was the result of a training accident on the Ersel practice track in the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Red Bull KTM factory rider Shaun Simpson injured in training accident

KTM Racing learned on Wednesday evening that Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team member Shaun Simpson suffered a training accident earlier today and has fractured his lower leg.
At the time of the accident, Shaun was training on the Ersel practice track in The Netherlands. As nobody was present at the time and until now it has not been possible to speak to Shaun personally, no exact details are known concerning the circumstances of the accident.
