Motul-Husqvarna motorcycle rider Jake Magee son of former GP racer Kevin Magee showed
motorcycle racing is in his genes taking two race wins from three race starts to take the
Acerbis S3 class win in the Summer Supermoto International Challenge at Oran Park in New
South Wales on Sunday February 27.
Magee, the latest appointment to the successful Motul-Husqvarna Supermotard racing team
competing in the S3 class, finished 1st, 3rd and 1st respectfully in the three races yesterday on
board his Husqvarna SMR 250.
Motul-Husqvarna S1 series champion, Josh McFarlane had a consistent day to finish second
overall in the Husqvarna sponsored S1 class. The 27 year old Josh McFarlane convincingly
won the first race in the S1 class, riding the Husqvarna SMR 630, but completed the day with
bridesmaid position in races two & three. He completed the round with a tally of 69 points,
which has left him in second position following Rob Tyerwould, on 72 points.
In the S2 class, for 250cc two stroke machines and 450cc four stroke machines, Motul-
Husqvarna rider Troy Herfoss finished the round in fourth position, while Motul-Husqvarna
team mate, Chad Turnbull finished fifth, one position behind team mate Herfoss (58 points),
who was the second placed Australian behind the two Americans Chris Fillmore, Honda (70
points), Micky Dymond, KTM (59 points) and Australian Stuart Bennett, KTM (61 points).
In the All Powers event, Chad Turnbull on his Husqvarna SMR 450 finished fifth with fellow
team mate Troy Herfoss finishing in seventh overall after crashing out of the final onboard his
Husqvarna SMR 450. Australian S1 Champion Josh McFarlane finished ninth in this all power
event on his factory Husqvarna SMR 630. McFarlane snared the lead from the start but
unfortunately this was short lived as the nimble 450 machines rounded him up on the tight
circuit.
The next round of the Summer Supermoto International Challenge will be held ay Raleigh
Raceway on Sunday March 6th
