Iv got a CR125 and i do a 30:1 if u ridin mtocross do a 40:1 if u doin enduro do a 30:1 it also depends where u live so try em both see what feels better.50:1 is ok but u gonna chow your rings and piston and its gonna smoke alot.
i use klotz oil-40:1 jett neddle in the second clip
klotz is good oil burns clean
your plug needs to be a tan -to a dark tan color
black is rich
white is too lean/-its always better to run a little rich than too lean
even the weed wackers ,and chainsaws -air cooled are running 40:1
use good oil!!
check the plug!-- then worry about jetting
THE RICHEST IT WILL RUN WITHOUT FOULING OUT....... just remember what that oil does it lubricates your whole engine...... if you tune your carb to run good at 20 to 1 mixure you will get at least 2 to 3 times the life out of that piston..... and save your cyl....... 50 to 1 fucks shit up... i work at a dealership and when i pull apart those two stokes you can tell who leans out there mixure and who is runnin good... and the guys that skimp on the oil get the high repair bills..
wats the diff between a broken engine and a more broken engine y would they have higher bills, bore, hone, and a new piston. its all the same. to rich causes just as many probs, like a huge buildup of carbon and other crap. run yur bike at wat its supposed to be run at. if u use synthetic u can go a bit leaner on the oil
what im saying is that people who mix the oil at 32 to one like you should dont need bore hone and new piston.... the oil saves your cyl..... every three years or so just pit in a new piston and your good to go... and motocross action did a dnyo test and proved that a properly jettet two stoke 250 running a 20 to 1 oil mixure gains as much power as a full pro circut exhaust... 3 hp...... why cause its good for your engine.... i have a 2000 125.. with the stock piston in it and can still stand it up in 5th gear..... ive never been inside that motor yet... and i run it at 30:1.....
ight dude do wat u want but that most suck gettin torn apart by everyone u race... 50:1 with a good synthetic and leaner on the main and pilot and you'll double your performance. sure oil saves your cylinder but it can just as easily destroy it. maybe one day ill tell you more bout this when your older...lol. just maybe
you have no clue what your talkin about... motocross action magazine did a test to prove that running a 250 two stroke at a 20 to 1 mixure with proper jetting adds as much power as a procircut pipe and silencer... 3 to 4 hp... and just cause your oil is mixed fatter doesnt mean you cant still run lean... lean is air to fuel.. not fuel to oil.. i run my yz at 30 to 1 and will smoke whatever your riddin.. without scuffing my piston and needing a new jug...
and you said whats the difference between a broken engine and a more broken engine... are you fucking retarded.... what costs more dumbass.... a piston... or a piston, cylinder, rod and crank.. you tell me the difference between broken and more broken....
if you live in the mountains use 32:1 and if you live in a valley use 42:1..like that guy said 50:1 all you'll do is burn your rings out and it will smoke like hell..if i were you on that type of bike go with 42:1
how th fuc r u gonna break a crankshaft, yur engines not gonna sieze from runnin a diff mixture. ya maybe throw a rod runnin 50:1 ya having double the power of what yur rollin with. dude i run 50:1 and have never a a single prob in and ive had the bike for three years. so putting in my place huh, really. just cuz u guys dont kno how to take care of your bike and shit breaks doesnt mean that other people dont kno wat theyre doing. i run 50:1 and never have had a prob so sorry for bein rude cuz i wasnt tryin to be but i run 50:1 and ive had my entire engine apart and i didnt have a single prob. barely even had a bit of carbon on the head. hit it up with a micrometer and cylinder was perfect with no cylinder wall missing. 50:1 works. also how is wearing out the rings gonna make a TWO STROKE smoke more. it already burns oil.
i never siad it would make it smoke more.. it wont cause there is no oil below those rings to blow bye.... and your rigth they do run good at 50:1 ... i ran my cr 85 like that... and my yz 125... till i read motocross action and the rejeted and now run 30 to 1 and its reall and truely got more balls... all im saying is its safer... and i have seen rods seiz right to the crankshaft and you need a new crank ... it sucks... but i reall do work on these all day... i see a new bike motor apart everyday... and the richer run ones do need less maintenece...
thats pretty cool that 30:1 has more power. i wanna kno a bit more bout that so if it sounds like im bein sarcastic im not. also before a few questions, i was talkin to banshee killer when i said things about smoking. if u read his previous entry he said u can "burn the rings up" making it smoke more well lol. ne way bac to this perplexing thought of 30:1. did u rejet? if so by how much. not tryin to be rude but u do kno that if u add more oil to the mixture your engine is actually running leaner on the fuel to air mixture. so if u didnt rejet then its basically like yur runnin yur engine lean. also hows yur plug at this mixture, ever fouled it out. what color is yur plug. so that is kinda cool with 30:1 being more power if u actually did rejet but if u didnt rejet well...... thanks for the info
when im done riddin my plug is alway golden brown just like it should... and i only changed my main jet in my bike. it had either a 260, 0r 360. i cant remember now.. but i went down one size... i think a 350. i was prepared to mess with the neddle and piot but there was no need it ran good... you gotta remember from the factory there meant to run a 32 to 1 so your carb shouldnt be to far off...... and as far as the lean issue goes... belive it or not.. when you go from mixing your gas at 50:1 to like 30:1 its such a big difference that the gas acutally is thicker.... i know its not a difference you can see.. but i matters is the carb.. since the gas gets thicker its acutally harder for your motor to pull it though the main jet.. so your engine pulls less gas and gets more air. Makin it lean out. Make Sense.... if you take a bike that is jetted to run at 20 to 1 and just mix it a 50... the bike will foul the spark plug becuase so much more gas is getting though that main and it will be to rich..... if your bike is just running to rich.... thickining your gas mixure can actually lean it out.......but as far as rejeting goes you have to try your new mixure with what your carb is set at now and see what it does... then you know what to change..... let me know if that helps..

ya thats definately pretty awesome cuz if yur gettin all that power and runnin 30:1 then i wanna do that to. thanks. also i dont if u have but u should check out www.mototips.com its a new dirt bike website that the moderator of. its pretty awesome but we just need more people like u, who actually have some decent information to share with everyone else. check it out if u want.
wow first person to actually ever understand that. no i dont tig, u dont kno how bad i want to, but i cant afford a tig. i do have a mig though, hobart handler 140, its dec for wat i need to get done, including adding engines to every bicycle i own. my friend and i also made a complete 2 speed mini bike from scratch in 24 hours. the tigmaster is from a long time ago, back when i had a stick welder. we were bored and i started being stupid and i chucked up a screw driver in the electrode clamp and took some grid wire and tried to tig. needless to say didnt go so well but my friend was trying to weld with his mig and i was being stupid and sayin ill tig that for you, which is where i got my sn and email, illtig4u. i want to tig alot just dont have the money. thats really amazing someone understood the name.
yeah i got my first mig when i was sixteen... then i saved up and bought the oxyfuel cutting and welding outfit.... then my gramma suprised me and told me i could go to the store and pretty much pick out whatever tig machine i wanted... so i got the miller syncrowave 180 sd. its a bad ass tig and stick machine and i love it...when you get one look into those. so now i have one of every kind of welder.... there about 2 grand and have a three year warrenty... but there great machines..... its so smooth and you can weld anythin.. unless its like shittty cast alluminum.. but once you get one, everyone and there brother wants you to fix something. thats the only draw back.
bro can u help me out the lad from moto shop said for me to run a synthetic oil which i am i am running the top of the range MOTUL and my spark plug is a liight blacky brown i run 40:1 wot would u run thanks man oh btw my yz is an 02 model if that comes into account thks man that is to derekschuitz other plp plz say your comment i wana get my bike running smicko :)
so hes not the only one that knos stuff. u say yur plug is lightly black brown, thats almost tuned perfectly, just a bit rich, if a 2 stroke plug check counts. any way i take it from readin the previous discussion u wanna run 30:1 . so change u mixture to 30:1. run it like that for a little bit or do a plug check, if yur plug is light tan thats the performance tuned spot, but idk if u like to be safe or not but brown is a dec color to have. but if yur plug is darker than that, drop down a step on the main jet, if its really dark black for some random reason drop down 2 steps. if yur plug just happens to be white, dont use the bike again til u go up a step on yur main
check and make sure that oil your using is not a 50:1 oil.. cause alot of synthetics are 50:1.... but you dont need that crap i know tons of people are gonna jump down my throught for saying this but yamaha 2r is "i think" the best oil ever... it suspends in the gas better than most oils... try switching to 2r and run at 35 to one.... ride for a while and check the plug makes sure when you shut the bike off to check the plug you are reallly riddin it good... dont let it idle at all before you you shut it off.... acutall be rippin and pull in the clutch and hold the kill swicth till you stop.. that called doin a throtle chop and its the only way to get an accurate plug reading... so try that and let me know what you plug looks like and ill see if i can help you more from there.... good luck..
Man that didnt really help me how can i let it idle if it dnt idle i gota always have my hand on the throttle and i took my spark plug out man and it is a real dark black reall oily
thks man let me know i appreaite this ay i am only 15 no fuck all
ok now you gotta swap out your main jet... its really easy loosen the two screws holding the rubber boots on the carb. then twist the carb so the botom is exposed.. use a 17 mill wrench to take that bottom off and the main jet is right there.... go one size smaller than you have in there. maybe even two sizes..... go the the dealer and get three jets all smaller than you have in there and start with the one or two smaller but buy the next three.... then try it out... but my bike runs perfectly and it wont idle.... they really arent even soposed to .... but dont get frusterated carb tuning is all trial and error... and it reall takes time to get it right.... let me know how that works.... if you really think its loading up to much at idle then adjust your pilot screw in a half of a turn and try that... then let me know....
wait idling bad is a pilot jet or an air screw or it could even maybe be the needle jet, changing a main jet doesnt affect idling at all, get this prob of idling fixed first, cuz if u tried to change yur main then u changed yur pilot, yur main would be off. serioulsy, if its idling bad a mains not gonna save it, but it sounds like u need a smaller main too.
i would go with 50:1 in the 2
