Husqvarna Australia's successful racing contingent comprising Enduro, Motocross, and Super Motard teams, has added a fresh new look to their race lineup.
Husky Chix is Australia's first all female factory backed motocross team. The three girl team is the initiative of Sue Feeney, wife of Paul Feeney who is the Australian distributor for the Husqvarna brand.
"I wanted to help increase the awareness and profile of female motocross in Australia, and creating an all girl team is a great way of supporting women's growth in a traditionally male sport." Explains Sue.
The team includes three experienced Queensland riders; former bank manager Julie Longo, mobile equipment operator Brooke Thiemann, and spare parts manager and former Australian Trials rider, Jena Grimsey.
All three members know how hard it is for female riders, "It's quite daunting for girls starting out in the sport (motocross). But now
with girls competing in our own races, and manufacturers like Husqvarna lending their support, it's making things a lot more attractive for
newcomers", says 24 year old Brooke Thiemann.
