The Inaugural Husqvarna Women’s Silver Cup wound up yesterday after two days of hard racing and major carnage. As part of its commitment to women’s motocross, Husqvarna Australia sponsored the female category at the Queensland Quad Championships held at the Stanmore facility over the weekend.
The event involved 5 races over the two day meeting with a field of 18 competitive girls vying for a share in the $1200 prize money on offer. The action came thick and fast as the girls ripped through the track. The intensity was clearly visible throughout the weekend, several girls pushing a little too hard leaving two girls hospitalised.
Husqvarna’s all female motocross team, Husky Chix Racing, was also on show with both team members avoiding the carnage and posting solid performances. Team rider Brooke Thiemann kept it clean across both days of racing and rode her way into second place behind interstate rival Kristy Gillespie, with Jessie Slade rounding out the top three.
“It was a big turnout of girls this weekend which is great to see. Unfortunately there was a few crashes which is never good, but I managed to get through unscathed and take second. The bike (Husqvarna TC250) was perfectly setup for the track and it made all the difference.
