it seems that everyone on this forum has no idea wat they r doin on they're bike. granted ive only been here 5 weeks but i hear of all u guys sayin, o just take it to the mechanic or have someone else look at it but u should be doin this stuff yurself. ive torn my entire bike an engine apart into every piece a week after i got my bike and went for a complete rebuild of everything. i have never taken it to a mechanic an never will. but the reason im sayin this is that if ne one has ne questions bout their bike i can answer them so feel free to ask me ne question an ill most likely be able to answer it
hi on my 85 i hav found its b
hi on my 85 i hav found its been boggin out in 5th and 6th gear im pretty sur it got som thing to do with the carby becaus iv cheked every thing else out but can u tel me how to fix it
make a long run in 5th or 6th
make a long run in 5th or 6th gear with full throttle and pull the clutch in and kill the engine while your still goin then pull the plug and tell me what it looks like just make sure the engine never idles while your doin it, as soon as you press the kill switch pull the clutch in and let off the gas it sounds like a main jet but is there anything that has led up to this, like a huge change in climate also what is your main jet now and what is your fuel mixture and do u have an aftermarket pipe also have you changed your fuel mixture lately
hey the fuel has stayed the s
hey the fuel has stayed the same the weather has gotten colder and its aposed to be a factory settings and i wil do that thing and tell you next time i com on
it also has no aftermarket pi
it also has no aftermarket pipe yet
also wat bike do u ride and w
well... colder weather should mean its runnin leaner but your prob is that its too rich.... also wat bike do u ride and when was the last time you did a top end because if you have low compression then that could do it too especially if you have the variable compression valves on yur bike and i dont mean to ask a stupid question but is your air filter absolutely clean cuz that would cause it to run rich so ya if you think bout it rich means that your either gettin too much gas which means yur carb cant be clogged or anything like that or you are getting less air so check all that out but if nothin big has changed and you havent done a top end in a while then u might wanna do a compression test or just go for a top end
im riding a ktm 85 2005 modle
im riding a ktm 85 2005 modle. i bought it in November 2005 and it hasnt had a top end ever. and yeh lol im sure i wash my airfilter all the time.
sorry havent got bak to you so long havent been on the net for while. and i was wondering could it been somthin to do with my silencer packing being cloged or any thing like that?
if its your silencer packing
if its your silencer packing it would bog when you rev it up not just in 5th and 6th gear your probly swithen your gears to early try down shiften that might help
this is true, 5th and 6th are
this is true, 5th and 6th are high ratios and u may just be usin them to soon. when in 5th gear u shoul def feel like yur gonna die then wait a bit longer to shift to 6th. and 6th should barely be a usable speed unless on a smooth surface. lol idk best way i could explain it
if its your silencer packing
if its your silencer packing it would bog. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaha sorry thats just funny. No it just goes awfuly loud like my old pipe and you just lose power thats about it anyways, Would it go away after awhile Do you go out with the air filter just washed. I dont think hes granny shifting cause its a 85 you go trough the gears in them no time. Ide strip the carb clean it all down take out the reeds make sure for no wear or anything seal it all back up with gasket glue then a full service I mean the works. If its none of that works ur better of getting it looked at save a lot of hastle and hours stuck working on the bike.
