hey guys... just a few queries about wether ill be able to handle my new bike. I ride a 2002 kx100 and im reasnobly good and ride decently hard. Im upgrading to a yz250f and im wonderin how hard it will be to get used to it... can ya wise guys help me out...?
Easy
In the Amtra Club, there is a young guy (Hi Tom) who was riding an XR100 up until around 12 months ago. Tom was ready for a bigger bike, and decided to go straight to a 250, as he will shortly be able to get his license.
However, it needed to be e-start so that short legs aren't a problem (although that problem has since disappeared also).
This meant Tom got a KTM250EXC RFS, being the first 250 with a button available.
Tom was very quickly riding it to its fullest potential, and now makes all us old guys look slow.
To summarize, I dont think you'll have a problem, just take it easy at first. Going from a KX100 to a YZ250F will be easier than an XR100 to a KTM250EXC RFS.
handle it
last year i wanted to upgrade my 1991 xr100 to a 2002 yz125 and everyone was saying stuff like oh no way you cant do that man your crazy and all that sort of thing but i got my 125 and just took it easy and didnt try to outride my self and now i ride i very well so what im saying is yeah you will most likely be able to ride the 250 but when you get it dont act like a tool and show off becuase they are very powerful but take your time get used to the bike and youl be confident in no time.
HAPPY RIDING!!!!!!
I went from a XR100 to a YZ25
I went from a XR100 to a YZ250F. I managed to pick it up really quick. The YZ250F can be a gentle beast if you want it to be, i'v even managed to do some mild trials on it :D
Buy it, go easy at first and you wont look back :D Have fun
no problem
Not a problem. I came from a stock Suzuki RM100 to a works Suzuki RM250 at the age of 14 with no problem.
