Start with the manual

Well, it could be a problem, but I'd start by looking at the excellent manual the Yamaha provide with their bikes.

Some of the Yamaha Onwers manuals are available online here http://www.yamaha-motor.com/service/manuals/ManualSelector.asp if you have lost yours.

rear shock

sounds like to me that you need to rebuild your rear shock your seal head seems to have miss placed all your oil onto the ground behind you. I think all you have now fora rear shock is just the spring so its not working like it should. take it to a good suspesion guy to work on. dont do it your self unless you really know what u r doing
