From Taylor Potter - The good news first.
I had another win in the Victorian ThumperX series on my ACS Racing BBR150 4 stroke at Avalon on Sunday 26 September 2004. The track was really fast and flowing. The weather was sunny for an hour then it was wet then it was sunny again. Weird weather but I had a cool time and won 3 races outright from 3 starts.
On the Saturday before the ThumperX I had coaching from Cameron Taylor (CDR Yamaha) and that was really good. Cameron worked on my braking and corner speed and I learnt a lot and he helped me out a lot. Thanks Cameron.
Now the bad news.
Plaster sucks big time!
I have a broken leg and a broken arm as at the Australian Junior Titles at Blackwood Park Penguin Tasmania I was hit by a couple of bikes in my first 85cc race on Wednesday 29 September 2004.
I was running in 5th place and as I came off a jump the guy just in front of me crashed his bike, I unfortunately clipped the back of his dropped bike and I also came off. I was OK then and I quickly tried to pick up my bike but I was then hit by about four of the other bikes coming across the jump and that hurt!
That was the end of Australian Junior Titles for me and start of six weeks in plaster. I was looked after at the hospital in Burnie and was there three days. The breaks are not real bad ones but bad enough for full leg plaster which is heavy as and the one on my arm means I have a special crutches that I'm getting better with. Its all a pain though as I have to get help from everybody when I move around.
The people at JetStar helped me get back to Melbourne last night and I might be back at school tomorrow. I'm feeling good but a bit sore.
I was feeling real confident going to Tasmania. Adrian had got the bikes going really well. Yarrive and Cameron had given me a lot of help in coaching and in practice I was really happy with my riding. I easily ran in the top 5 in the gate practice on Tuesday on my KTM 85SX and in the top 10 on my KTM 125SX but the next day was real painful.
I will miss the KTM Cup, the last round of the Supercross Masters at Gosford and the next couple of rounds of the ThumperX series. I should be back out there in November.
Thanks to everybody for your support and especially those who helped me get down to Tasmania to race.
Thanks to those who rang and asked about me, Mum and Dad for worrying and Adrian for his help and him also worring about me I suppose too and I will catch up with you soon.
