I've been riding bikes my whole life but I finaly am getting my own. I was thinkin about the TTR - 225 but I read some of the forums and people say its too heavy to jump and hard to wheelie, both being things I like to do. Any suggestions on what to get? I do have a budget, but i can always get a used bike. I weigh about 200 and im 5,8.

don't get a ttr 225

We had one just to resell and had the oppurtunity to play with it. If you are interesting in jumping and just abusing the bike while having fun, yea, it is heavy. I personally hate this bike. It's ugly, it's slow, it's heavy...

It's best to buy a used bike too, you can always find a great deal if you look well. And don't jump on the 1st ad you see!

What kind of riding are you going do? If you are going to do a mix of trails and motocross (or track stuff, wide open things, not technical material) maybe a kx100. but you're pretty tall, so maybe even the 125 for a start. I'm looking into a kx100 but i'm a girl and 5'5.

-4 strokes are becoming big anyways, so maybe look into the crfs? I wouldn't bother with the 230, i hear it's not much good, and the Electric start makes it heavier...

If you are just looking ot get a grip for motorcycles, get a kx100, crf1250, or the ttr125. My dad rides my ttr125 for fun around the house and doesn't break it. It's a very easy, friendly and forgiving bike.

If you're lucky and find one at a good deal...keep it nice (or try!) and sell it for more money, making it a bit easier on your budget to buy a new bike. We do this all the time. I'd look into the new 4 stroke lines from all the 4 brands. Klx, Kdx 220 is also easy (2 stroke though, but it works onthe trails, we have this) Good luck and have fun!

thanks for the help

thanks for the help. I got a great deal on a 400ex honda 4 wheeler and I had to take it 2003 brand new basically only 3700 with tax and title fee. I hate to abandon dirbikes but 4 wheelers are just as much fun.
