After a frustrating outing at round 1 of the THQ AMA Supercross series in Anaheim, Team Moto XXX/Honda figured there was only one direction to go in the results. And with Kyle Lewis’ propensity for great starts, it seemed to be a reasonable line of thinking. As it turned out, Phoenix brought some similar frustrations, but the final results were better.

Daytime qualifying went well for both Kyle Lewis and Justin Buckelew. Though competition for the 20 positions in the 250cc main event was fierce, Lewis transferred out of his semi, while Buckelew was forced to ride the LCQ. All appeared to be well, as he was running second, but the race was red-flagged due to an injury on the track. On the restart, Buckelew moved out front again and seemed to be a lock to qualify, but was taken out by another rider. Ricky Carmichael got the holeshot

Carmichael pulled away from Windham in the first few laps, and never looked like being in trouble, busting out new moves through the whoops that made him faster and faster each lap.

Reed didn't get as good a start, and had to work his way past a few riders before challenging Windham and Carmichael. Unfortunately, Reed didn't get up to the front quickly enough, and never got back in touch with either.

Travis Pastrana dropped the bike early, and was out of the race. His injured wrist apparently became very swollen after last weeks race. Maybe he'd be better off waiting until its fully healed? What do you think, vote on our poll and let us know.

Ryan Sipes got the holeshot

First place went to Brock Hepler who led from the first lap and never looked in danger despite an impressive charge from in the pack by Ivan Tedesco who grabbed second place. Ryan Sipes held on to grab third, which is an excellent result for the rookie.

This also results in a tie for the points lead between Tedesco and Sipes.

Nathan Ramsey dropped the KTM250SXF, and had trouble restarting it, in the end wheeling into the mechanics area and getting assistance to start the bike.

It cant be long until one of these guys put an e-start on the bike to combat this sort of issue.

Fabrizio Meoni was in a serious crash during the 11th stage of the Dakar Rally. Despite immediate medical attention, it was not possible to save Fabrizio Meoni’s life and he died of his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Due to this tragic incident the KTM management explicitly urges all KTM teams and factory riders to break off the Dakar Rally. KTM is however leaving it up to the individual drivers, teams and their sponsors to decide whether or not to continue the Rally.

After bypassing the podium presentation for the 125 event due to the atrocious conditions, the 250 event was held in a shortened 12 lap format.

Ricky Carmichael got the holeshot, and James Stewart dropped it in the whoops on the first lap, dropping him to around 15th place, with Carmichael lapping him later in the race, just before Carmichael fell, and was unable to lift the bike up due to the slippery conditions for some time.

Kevin Windham took over the lead, with Chad Reed keeping in touch with him in the mud.

Carmichael made an impressive run back to the lead, still doubling the jumps when all others were rolling the jumps.

Despite the extremely muddy conditions, Nathan Ramsey managed to keep his KTM 250SXF upright to take the win in the 125 class at the Anaheim supercross.

Josh Woods took out second, and Akira Narita third.

Ivan Tedesco, last seasons champion had his bike stop on the last lap, within sight of the finish line,

There were no two strokes in the main event at all, with the four strokes proving much more tractable in the muddy, slippery conditions of the shortened 10 lap race.

Australia's Brett Metcalf and Jay Marmont got 9th, and 21st respectively.
