South African takes AMA Chevy Trucks 125 U.S. Motocross title
PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Sept. 5, 2003) -- South African Grant Langston has
captured his first AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championship.
Langston's title in the 125 class also marks the first AMA Motocross
title for Austrian motorcycle maker KTM.
The championship was sweet for Langston, who lost the very same title in
the final moto of the 2001 season when his wheel broke. At the same
time, it was bitterly disappointing for Langston's Red Bull KTM teammate
Ryan Hughes, who had closed to within 7 points of Langston and was
hoping to have a shot at winning his first title. The final round of the
series was cancelled due to excessive rains and flooding at the track
set to host the event, Kenworthy's Motocross Park in Troy, Ohio. That
race had already been postponed from July, and extending the season even
further was not possible.
PICKERINGTON,Ohio (Sept. 4, 2003) -- Round three of the AMA Red Bull Supermoto Championship scheduled for Sept. 27 has been postponed until the 2004 season. Negotiations are underway for a replacement event in 2003 and AMA Pro Racing intends to run all six rounds of the series as originally planned.

The final round of the Yamaha Thumper-X Series was held on the 30th and 31st of August at Scoresby, Victoria and it was a weekend of survival for the riders, crews, spectators and officials.
With the drought recently breaking and an almost constant down pour of rain falling in the lead up to the event the normally fantastic surface turned into a quagmire that tested both rider and machine just to make it to the finish.
The greatest Grand Prix motocrosser of all time captured his seventh World Motocross Championship today, Belgian Stefan Everts racing his L&M Yamaha to the title and breaking the long-standing record of Joel Robert.
