Chad Reed grabbed the holeshot, and Ricky Carmichael stalked him from there, gaining a half second or so a lap, putting him in a place to start attacking Reed for the lead on lap 5 and 6.
In an exciting race, Carmichael passed Reed early in the race. Reed tried to stick with him, and they swapped best lap times throughout the race, but Carmichael pulled away each lap, ending the race with a 5+ second lead over Reed.
This is the third win in a row for Ricky Carmichael, putting him in an excellent points position (16 point lead) for the championship.
Mike LaRocco looked very solid in third place, holding off Ernesto Fonseca (riding with a foot injury), Heath Voss and David Vuillemin.
