Now entering its fifth year of promotion, Stephen Gall’s Yamaha ATV Safety Institute will stage ATV safe riding demonstrations and new model ATV and motorcycle displays at 17 leading agricultural and machinery Field Days around Australia (schedule follows).

The Yamaha ATV Safety Institute demonstrations are specifically aimed at improving the commitment to safety of ATV riders through the practical delivery of informative Training for the sports, rural, government and private industry markets.

ATV instructor Rodney Jenner will host the demonstrations and displays, which will take place in front of hundreds of thousands of Field Day attendees.

I RODE THE 400 FROM 1997 , THAT I TRADED A 1990 CR500R (MANY WOODS MODS ) THAT I RODE FOR 7 YEARS , I TRADED A 1983 500 HUSKY WR FOR THAT ONE , I HAD 1979 WR390 BURLYSON REPLICA , A 1979 390 OR , DT400 YAMAHA 1977 , XL AND SL 125S IN MID 70"S AND A 1971 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANS TRAIL 70 (I STILL HAVE THAT ONE) AND STARTED RIDING ON A BONANZA (LAWN MOWER POWERED) MINI IN 1966. You have no idea what you're talking about "garth" Any of these guys with the 250X would walk all over you on any 125 2-stroke that hasn't had thousands$$ invested in it. When you grow up a bit and realize it isn't how loud your exhaust is (or mouth) maybe then your bad english and lack of knowledge will vanish and you'll have enough brains to do some research before you open your yap, Stay in school and pay attention. crf 250x

I own an 05' crf/x 250 Ca. model I cut open the air box, added power now & power now plus, FMF header & Q pipe, cut gray wire, changed jetting to 140 main & pillot to 45 & fuel screw to 2-3/4 out but I need more power. I'm always tapping out the rev limiter. I love this bike in every other way but I would like more horse power. Is a cam the way to go or should I look for a big bore kit ?

I run the show here at electricmoto.com and it's amazing to me how the M/C industry has ignored the noise issue. Sure, electric dirt bikes, whatever. But the fact that they are making 4-strokes that are louder then 2-strokes is very weird. A good muffler doesn't have to be heavy, it just needs a lot of volume (bulky).And it does not rob any horsepower. When the AMA dirttrack decible rule was inacted, about 15 years ago, they started doing a lot of dyno testing and in the process, got an XR 750 to nearly 100 hp...and cut the noise of a 750 twin double thumper....
I personally love the sound of 4-stroke singles. But the problem is like the jet ski problem. It's only fun when YOU are making the noise. Tolerating other peoples noise doesn't happen too often.

The overall result of the Will you sacrifice power for a quieter bike poll is that 65% of people will NOT sacrifice power for quietness.

This is a major issue with our sport, as noise is the second major way that people are aware of us. The other way is that whoops and berms tend to form on common tracks, but we can stop them unless we all go slower (yeah right).

But imagine if you will a future where we all ride battery powered torque monsters that make no noise. All of the tracks that are currently limited to use by Mountain bikes could be used by dirtbikes!

A Pipe dream you say? Never happen. It can, and already IS! Read on if you dare.

Bah you scoff, thats years away. But I beg to differ, already these sort of machines are making their way onto the market. In particular, Electricmoto's Blade, which is actually comparable to an XR250 in lots of ways. There is also a forum on Electricmoto for the blade

There are lots of advantages with an electric bike, some of which you only become aware of as you read their site. For example, you can adjust the complete power characteristics of the bike!
With lots of other possibilities.
