Husqvarna Racing’s Reece Westle has taken out the Intermediate Open class of Round 8 of the Shell Advance Sunshine State MX Series held at Echo Valley over the weekend. Westle’s last round win also secured him second position in the Intermediate Open Championship which was finalised yesterday.
Westle got off to a rocky start in the first of two heats yesterday, crossing in 10th position after the first lap. Despite the unfortunate start to the race, Westle managed to claw his way back into contention, eventually crossing for third position despite two falls in the process.
The second heat was the perfect race. Westle led from start to finish, and at one point had opened up an eleven second lead over second placed rider Brock Winston.
“The first race I was playing catch up and had a couple of minor offs, but the second race was awesome. The bike (Husqvarna Racing TC450) was so strong and just kept pulling away. The race couldn’t have been better.
