[image:1184,top] X-treme Lumezzane is touted the most beautiful, toughest, hardest, longest and richest enduro race in the World. This year the race lived up to it's name and attracted over 10,000 spectators to the mountainous village of Lumezzane in the region of Brescia, Northern Italy.

Current World Enduro Champion, Stefan Merriman emerged the winner of the famous international enduro race after 10 hours on Saturday, 2.5 hours in the night and 6.5 hours on Sunday. The stifling heat, tight time checks on the trail and 22 special tests in total made this year's race particularly difficult, with only 21 out of the 70 riders entered finishing.

Merriman won both day stages of the race and was only beaten in the night stage by Fausto Scovolo (who did not complete the first day stage due to mechanical problems and was thus excluded from final standings). Victory in both the 2 stroke class and overall classification earned Merriman 6,000 Euro ($12,000 AUD) for his efforts. [image:1185,bottom]

About the race Merriman said," This was definitely the hardest, most challenging race I have done this year. Motorclub Lumezzane efforts have been extraordinary in preparation of this race and they have set an excellent standard for World Championship organisers to follow. I am completed exhausted but very satisfied with my results."
