South Australia's Cole crossing camp ground closed

Excerpt from a letter from the Department for Environment and heritage

A recent inspection of Cole Crossing by officers from the Alexandrina Council and NPWSA identified many issues of concern including the severe erosion. Large water filled holes have been dug to a depth of 1500 mm creating a safety hazard for vehicles and the general public. As well, numerous new tracks have been cut across the Finniss River, collapsing banks and destroying vegetation.

Cole Crossing is part of a dedicated Conservation Park under the NPW Act 1972, and therefore site protection is paramount. This will only be possible by intervening in the destructive processes and preventing future degradation. Through a program of fencing and revegetation, the area will be reinstated back to its natural state. Realignment of road reserves will be initiated simultaneously to rationalise land tenure and to maintain access across the Finniss River on Cole Crossing road.

Thunder Valley Motocross track under fire?

    From The Hartwell Sun Online
While the track is not the subject of this story, the noise made by the track has been brought up in the top story of the day!. This in itself will make people think more about it and consider whether the track should be there. Something for the locals to keep an eye on I think. Noise is a very big issue with our sport.

If you have a very loud muffler, consider toning it down a little. Do you really need it that loud?

Motocross director suggests designated W-Hill ride zone

From The Peace River Record Gazette

    By Ken MacInnis
    R-G Staff Writer

With more and more off-road machines being sold in Peace River, one longtime dirt biker suggests the way to address the ongoing issue of illegal riding in the hills around the town is to set aside trails exclusively for riders.

Chris France, who has biked around Peace River for 26 years, says a designated riding area for dirt bikes would both capitalize on the popularity of the machines and end riding in other areas within Town limits - which is banned by a bylaw.

    Saddleback Motorsports Park Update

The Saddleback Motorsports Park team is continuing to work diligently towards the development of a first class motocross facility in Orange County. Although the project is taking much longer to complete than we originally expected, we are still optimistic that this project will ultimately succeed.

Having learned that delays are inevitable and often out of our control, we are hesitant to estimate our future opening date. We will update everyone as often as possible and thank you for your patience.
