Im currently looking to buy a new bike. I love riding enduro and the bush tracks and want to do some racing in the 06 season. My problem is do I buy a 4stroke 250 or a 2stroke 125????
I am currently still on my first bike which is a CRF100.
My boyfriend has a CR250 and is all for the 2strokes but the enduro riders all seem to have 4strokes.
Could you guys please give me your advice?

ktm sx200 or exc200
well im mad into enduro too i love it i ride a yz125 its very good on the tracks but i was going to buy a yzf250 or a wrf250 for the tracks as well there all for the 4 strokes cause there more suted to over rev and long hours of use but since u dont want a 125 or a 250f i would say u should defo go with a ktm sx200 or a ktm exc200 but i would say the ktm sx200 its a motocross bike but its really good converted the lad i go round with is one of irelands top experts and he rode a sx200 there quick and light and good on tracks the power valve is what i love u would not get it in a exc200 cause thats a enduro bike but look into a sx200 brill bike i might join u on the hunt for 1 cause i love em
2-4
ive never rirden a 4 stroke mx bike but i got a little RM125 im only 15 and when i go ride with the older guys (like 30) on there 250's and 450's , doin hill climbs and trails and shit.. id have to say a 125 isnt a bad bike to use, only u just gotta stay on gas and know how to use a clutch unless u might risk havin to cary around a million extra plugs with you!!
crf250r
thats an easy question to answer. 4 strokes all the way. crf250r bike of the year 3 years in a row
Scares mean nothing without a sweet story.
'04 CRF 250r
ye well i do have to say u do
ye well i do have to say u do have to screm a 125 but a 200 its ok cos u dont but then a 250 is heavyer so its really up to u but i do agree with crf kid the crf250 are the best 4 strokes u can by but there very behind on there 2strokes i think
2 or 4
ahh this is easy 4 stroke all da way i would say get a xr250 but you comeing off a 125 so get a kx250f there sic
2 or 4???
Thanks everyone for their comments.
But guys what I want to know is, WHY?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of going for a 2 or a 4 stroke.
It seems to me that 4strokes are heavier, slower and harder to fix, while 2 strokes are lighter, faster but harder to control.
Any more comments?
okayy
to me the advantages of my 125 compared to a 2 stroke 250 are...
-125s are lighter than 250f's and 250's
-to me its easier to handle in the air and on track
-a ton of power they can do anytihng u put ur mind to
-somewhat easy to work on (even though i almost always take it to my mechanic)
-250's pack a really hard hit if ur not used to it,there stronger, faster, and harder to get used to
DISANVANTAGES
-need alottttt of clutch work at times
-need to keep them at high revs
-u might foul ur plug if ur not givin er enough to burn the feul going to the plug(but if u take it to some1 who will jet it properly for your riding style u wont have this problem)
i donno .. thats wat i can think of.. oh yea these are just MY opinions soo that doesnt mean one you or someone else might have r wrong!!
GOOD LUCK
2 or 4??
Thank you all. Think I'll go for the CR125 :)
Happy Riding
hey
hey dont go lookin for a cr honda are very behind on there 2 strokes there top of there class on 4 strokes but not on 2 i would say get a yz125 not cause i like yamaha its just handlin and power are great on them kx125 would be a really nice 125 to get as well trust me
2 or 4??
Argh so confused. OK thanks, I will look at the YZ
Yamaha??
So is it only the 05 and 06 YZ125s that are good. Or are the older ones better that than the CR125s as well?
yz
lol mx dave is right,if u are looking 2 stroke, then get a yz they are wayyy ahead of honda in 2'sthe 06 and 05 version of the yz's are exellent, and if u can get a good price,go for the 06,but the years before that are fine too,04,03,02.if u change your mind, the best 4 stroke is a crf(any size).but if you want my ADVISE then i would say dont get a motocross 125 2 stroke to start, because if you have had no dirtbike experience or any of that the u will have a very hard time getting used to it,and will definently crash and maybe get hurt.id say go with a trail 2 stroke
yz

hey, i'd go for a 4 stroke they go better on eduro and great on the racing track. more reliable and less matinance!
Thanks. I really do want a CR
Thanks. I really do want a CRF250.
It's just that my boyfriend wants me to get a CR125 because hes into 2strokes.
But he likes doing tricks and I just looooooooooooove riding long trails and bush tracks.
The 4strokes are more expensive to buy though.

What do you ride?
You said 4strokes were less maintenance...I was told it was 2stokes that were less maintenence???
hey, na no way 2 strokes are
hey, na no way 2 strokes are more matinance coz u have to rebuild them and change stuff all the time... trust me i've grown up around bikes all my life, and i no for sure 4 strokes are less matinance

Sounds awse, yer I need some
Sounds awse, yer I need some riding pals :)
I've been riding for about a year now...it's all I wanna do....
Do you service your own bike?
it depends
hey it depends ur talkin bout mantanice 4 strokes they will go faster trough a clutch cause thats why there is a powervalve on 2 strokes it helps u to stop burnin out ur clutch when ur flickin it all the time on 4 strokes and rebildin time is way easyr on 2 strokes and cheeper like on a 4 stroke sure u do it once a year or something and on 2 strokes dependin on how u ride u do it 1-3 times a year but its way more money when u have to rebil a 4 stroke and u could do a 2 stroke topend rebil in a quick time dependin what ur like at fixin things and when it comes to chains ans all ur ment to use o ring chains on 4 strokes and they eat trough them cause the power in them but all i can say is i was planin on gettin a 4 stroke yz250 or a wr250 but i soon changed my mind when i asked a lad who owned one he says way to much mantance and crap and for a younger lad like me keep with a 2 stroke
It really depends
Have you ever riden a two stroke, I also started on a crf 100 and I moved to a YZ125, If you are more conforatable on a four stroke, the 250F would be better.
Ohhhh, now Im just 100% confu
Ohhhh, now Im just 100% confused again.
It seems it is pretty much 50 50 out there.
I don't want to get a 4 as I plan to ride long trails but I don't want it to cost me a fortune to maintain either.
Does anyone know if any of the enduro team riders ride 2strokes???
yep
yep in go out with irelands top enduro rider and he rides a sx250 he hates 4s cos of weight and starting them he rides a 2 stroke and loves it and wins loads of races
hey, mmmmmm i think you shoul
hey, mmmmmm i think you should decide because everyones differnt and i mean if you feel betrer ona 4 stroke buy one but if u feel better on a 2 stroke then get that... dont go off wat people say on this website coz u mightt make the wrong choice ya no, coz it would be a expensive mistake if u got somthing you dont like ay.. so yeah
