Dirt Rider with first '04 YZ125 ride.

From www.dirtrider.com
News June 26:First Ride 04' Yamaha YZ125

Yamaha sprang from the gate to become the first manufacturer to release a 2004 motocross bike. Dirt Rider met with the boys in blue at RaceTown 395 in Adelanto, California, to spin laps on the revamped ride. With so much hype surrounding Honda's, Kawasaki's and Suzuki's new 250 four-stroke motocross bikes, Yamaha knew it had to tweak its two-stroke eighth-liter mount to compete. Subtle alterations to the YZ along with an all-new 48mm Kayaba fork should up the ante in the 125 class for 2004.

Thunder Valley Motocross track under fire?

From The Hartwell Sun Online
While the track is not the subject of this story, the noise made by the track has been brought up in the top story of the day!. This in itself will make people think more about it and consider whether the track should be there. Something for the locals to keep an eye on I think. Noise is a very big issue with our sport.

If you have a very loud muffler, consider toning it down a little. Do you really need it that loud?

Jamie Dobb's season to take a turn for the better?

From this is derbyshire

Jamie Dobb is convinced his 2003 Motocross GP World Championship campaign is about to take a turn for the better.

Britain's number one off-road racer took eighth place in his first ride on the factory KTM 450cc four-stroke machine in the Austrian Grand Prix at Karntenring.

The 31-year-old former world champion from Oakwood has switched from his 250cc two-stroke machine and seemed immediately at home on the larger bike, gaining his best result since his opening race seventh place in Spain.

Ricky Carmichael & James Stewart in control

250 - Ricky Carmichael - what can you say? He's so good right now, it's almost boring! Ricky dominated both heats today, and he's done that at every event this season. Ricky has 10 moto wins in a row, and that ties a record with Bob Hannah. Bob Hannah started out the 1978 season with 10 250 moto wins in a row.

Mike LaRocco is making a nice comeback after being out with an injured wrist. He took second overall with finishes of fourth and second.

Third overall went to the hard charging Tim Ferry. Tim finished second in the first moto, but fell in the finale, and had to work hard to get all way back up to fourth.

Ricky Carmichael & Danny Smith rack up the wins!

Southwick is sandy - very sandy. And rough - very rough. The track changes very much during the day too. It's a unique and unforgiving race track. Just ask James Stewart. Or Chad Reed. Or Mike LaRocco.

250: Ricky Carmichael dominated both motos today. Have you heard this before? RC and his Honda have been perfect so far this season - 8 motos, 8 wins, 200 points. Tim Ferry finished second in both motos to finish second overall on the big-bore Yamaha. He's also second in the point standings with 156. Third overall went to Ezra Lusk riding for Kawasaki.

Notes: How about Doug Henry? The former National Champion and Southwick 'home boy' raced today. He even had the lead in each moto! He finished seventh overall. Mike LaRocco returned to racing after being out with a broken wrist. He finished third in the first moto, but DNF'ed the second.
