Ok I bought a 1985 yz125 for $70 from someone at my school, I'm new 2 dirt bikes. The bike needs an air filter, a radiator, and needs a full tune up. About how much would that cost? Thanks in advance.
dude, ur bike is going to be fast. i has a 1971 it frame with an air cooled 125 motocross yz engine in it, it was much faster then my friends 1980-some suzuki dr 200. so anyway i got it going to about 100 clicks. so ur bike will be fast with lots of power.
ive got a 1983 yz 125 that i got for FREE ya. i fixed it up, rebuilt the engine, put new blue plastic on it, rebuilt the suspension, put boyesen reeds on it and a 12 toothe front and a 52 rear. this bike tops out at about 50 mph but i have it geared for acceleration and power. besides, when are you ever gonna go 50 on a mx track
theres plenty of times where spending money on an older bike is well worth spending some cash. u saw my post in the modifications thread, that bike is much much more powerful and has a better suspension than a new 2007 bike and i have only spent $4400 total with the bike. a new one goes for $6000. it just depends on the condition of the bike and price of parts i guess.
I know what u mean tig i done it all to my old yz and that was a 95yz125 but a 1983 yz125 ?? Come on. I say the engine parts are nackerd on it. I had the very same idea with my old yz when one day my friend woke me up i could of had a 07 for the amount of money i spent on it replacing parts everytime i was out on it and that bike was great for its age. I got my act together and bought i newer bike ill never go back to buyin a old bike. I was one of theses ppl who would say i dont really care about the year but now, I have to say year does matter. So no real point sayin a 83 is half as good as a 95 or what ever cause then what would be the point in newer model bikes.
Btw no dissin ur bike. Just giving u some advice you will be way quicker on a newer bike.
Speed

that guy that said 90 is an idiot
it will go around 65 to 80 depending on the parts u put in and how good of condition its in
if its in solid condition after the tune up and stuff itll b great but no offence because for $70 bucks thats a freakin amazing deal
