i have had my ttr 125 for almost a year the only problem with it is that the traction really sucks i have a brand new tire on it and even when i hit hills full throtle 2nd it wont make it up when i ride my friends xr100 i can stop at the bottom of the hill kick it into 1st and make it up any suggestions for things to do that might help me get better traction? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of questions
There are a lot of factors that could be involved, just like on a full size bike. To try and narrow it down, answer some of the following questions.
How much do you weigh, how tall are you?
Do you sit/stand when climbing the hill?
Do you sit/stand forward or back when climbing the hill?
Same on the Honda?
Are the rear tires the same?
What tire pressure do you run. Try letting some air out if its high.
traction ttr 125
Ive got a ttr 125 and i have the same problem when i got it it was too big so we sofend the suspention so when i got on the bike the suspension would go down. when the suspension was sofend i felt it was quite better. I live on anglesey North Wales and thre is loads of wet and muddy hills. maby it would be worth a go.
tire pressure
my tire pressure is about pressure 35 psi.
OOooer.
Too high I reckon.
Try around 12 - 15psi, all it takes to pump it back up is a pump remember ;-)
You'll be amazed at home much difference tire pressure can make.
Hope that helps, let us know.

125L
i'm 14 and i am 5,6 feet and weigh 135lbs i'v always wanted a ttr 125L but i'm afraid im too big for it now what are your opinions?
TTR 125 Not enough traction.
I have a ttr 125 and have found it to be one of the best trail bikes at least as far as small bikes are concerned. I have never had any problems with hills, In fact I have sit at the top of many hills that larger bikes have failed to conquer. I dont know what your problem is as far as hills are concerned either you cant ride very well or you need to lower your tire pressure. Either way you should be able to eat XR 100s especially on hills.
i have one and im 5 3
im not sure 5 6 is pretty tall i say u try it out some ppl like bigger bikes and some like smaller bikes i have the big wheel and my balls of my feet are perffectly on the ground but i say u should get it its such a smooth ride its all around one of the better trail bikes but i dont know if i can ride tack races someone tell me
its not a car tire
its not a car tire
try a crf 230 almost the same
try a crf 230 almost the same seat height , weight and more power . you will soon be board of the 125 tt power . i ride 01 kx 500 and have adjusted to the power quickly from a hopped up xr400
5'6 is common racers height j
5'6 is common racers height just check r/c , bubba , m/c their close . and if you like getting your ass handed back to you in an old oily lunch bag you better better stick w/ yzf crf kxf rmf 250s
i ride a kx500 and my buddy r
i ride a kx500 and my buddy rides a cr500 and both well over 200 lbs and 6' tall and both run about 13 psi on muddy days and no more than 18 in rocky conditions . living in WV there is always hills to climb the only reason to run any pressure above 15 is so that you will not be riding on a flat
first bike
well this would be my first bike and i don't want to get a big thats too powerful for me. i'v also heard it rides quite well with adult riders. plus the ttr 125 is more in my pricerange. do you think it's worth getting?, i hope so
bad tracktion
my goes fine u probably have a electric start and those seem to die going up some hills that kick starts dont. u might also be sitting to far back on your bike. they are not made for big riders.
Are you sure?
I think that you are completely wrong. I have a 2003 TTR 125 L electric start, a TTR 125 L, and a 2004 TTR 125 L electric start. I can go up any hill I want. I t is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. There must be an operator error because my bike runs just fine. Maybe you are a hefty person that could make a difference.
Try to get hurt
Get a KX500, Its a perfect beginers bike with 65hp.
Have fun }:)
65 ponies
i would have thought that a 500 would have more then 65 hp. i got a really really really worked up cr250 with 63 wheel hp.
125's
Im bored of my xr100 cause its way t2 slow for me now. Ive ridden a kx100, and a drz400. I was thinking about getting eaither a 125 or 250 two-stroke. wat should i get? I live in southern cali and i go to a place called ocotillo wells. Im into jumpin and hills.
Alex
try KTM
I am riding `04 KTM 125 EXC. It really rox, most powerful 125 engine you can get. Maybe maximum speed is not so high (+120km/h - classic) but if you wanna gain extra respect this is right bike for you :)(you can wheelie without problems)
sry for my poor english :)
kdx 200 mate
kdx 200's r the way to go for ur next bike....they get up any size hill a peice of cake and top speed is 140kmh (which beats the 125exc 8)) i even have mae mine look like a kx, i put a kx front plat and back mudguard on it and fmf pipe n stuff like that plus u only have to change piston ring about once a year if u do a fair bit of riding;)
ttr 125

ttr125--vs--yz 85
i had a ttr its forks are as thick as a broom stick if u weight more than 100 lbs than u should get the yz85 thats what i have but i has 22 morehp than the ttr yz is strickly race and if u ride trails u will foul spark plugs so for tracks use the yz85 and trail use ttr the ttr not to sound cocky but basicly sucks on the track if it does not have yz forks and pipe
enduro dt 80
u should definitaly get a ttr, it is much better than that enduro 80
Traction
Dude, get some soft compound road racing slicks, those guys don't go round corners at silly angles for nothing!
