Well, after a few stops and starts, i'm along the path to getting the jetting right on the WR250F
I've ended up with a 170 Main, up from a 168 before.
The 168 went really well with the stock Exhaust Pipe, but with the Staintune full system, the 168 has some backfiring, so the 170 is the safe bet.
Next on to the needle, I think I'll just be adjusting the clip one richer than standard also.

wr250f Jetting
Hi,
I've since done the YZ timing, and gone to a 172 main. I reckon its lean in the midrange now, so I'm going to raise the needle to richen it up a bit.
It's got gobs of grunt with the Staintune & YZ timing!

wr jetting
hi Simon what year model do you have??????.i have an 02 still wr timing the thing felt a bit lazy in the top end with the 172 main jet so i went back to 170 feels better now. How much difference did the yz timing make?????.also what position do you have your needle on.wwone last thing what jetting where you running before you went to wr timing.thanks in advance
Hi there, mine is an '02
Hi there,
mine is an '02 as well, I agree with the 172 being lazy when using the standard exhaust, but withe staintune, its sweet.
The yz timing made quite decent gains in the mid range.
I had 168 before yz timing, tried 170 after, and it was ok, but 172 is better.
its still a little lean in the midrange I think, I need to raise the needle to try and fix that. At the moment, i'm pretty sure its on the 3rd clip (from memory), basically I've not moved the needle clip since I got it. I pulled it out to look at it is all.

after doing a lot of own dyno testing and mixture monitoring and riding it hard for already 500 kms or so with out a problem try these out for yourself {at your own risk of course}
back off accelelrator pump timing screw about 2 turns or untill thread is almost flush in its hole(this will bring it on earlier where it is meant to work //not after throttle is opened past 1/4)
replace leak jet{in the bottom of the fuel bowl) with a size 70 {105 stock depending on model)or soldier yours up and redrill at .7mm to .8mm
size pilot jet in relation to how many turns out on the mixture screw(which is a fuel metering screw not an air bleed) and the right jet should be about 1 3/4 turns out to get best running (i think i ran a 50)
obelq needle on 4th clip from top(lean needle but rich clip position)
last: beleive it or not a 158 main jet
my bike ripps, none of my mates can catch it,all are speechless on how it responds instantly and just pulls away on them
personally i love sitting over the front trying to keep it down even in third and standing up and pulling off awesome 4th gear 1/4 mile wheelies depending on the trails
ring for enquires as love to help or offer more advice on it
ps dont let the small main jet scare you off
