Hey dudes.. Im 14 and I'v got a 2002 kx100 and im going to get a yz250f. Im just wondering about wether im going to be able to handle it or not. Im planning to race it and im wonderin wether i can handle it and throw it around alright.. like in the air and shit. I ride my kx hard and im lookin for more power but the im not allowed to get a yz125 unless i pay for it all. What type of training should i do to get used to it and will i notice the extra kilo's? im confused... can use wise guys help me out?

it'll be a breeze!

I wrote a comment stating my query on switching from a kx100 to a yz250f just recently. I wen on a hunch and bought a brand new 2004 yzf. Even thought im 13 years old and only 155cm tall i hav got used to this bike sooo easy. They dont have any power until you turn the right wrist but when i did i found it had more than enuf. In my first few rides i found myself hanging of the back and i did take a few dives but its soo amazing how little you feel the weight difference. GO FOR IT! its a breeze.. hope this helps mate

There's no bad monkey out the

There's no bad monkey out there, hell you'd be able to handle a R1 with knobbies in a straight line.
More important than power to what you can handle is seat height and weight of the bike.

It's all too easy to think you need a faster bike when dueling with others, when in fact you need more time solo to get better technique.

Bottom line, if your got the dosh - why not? You can always sell it afterwards.

same problem

ive got the same type of problem...cept mines a little bit more severe. I'm not an experienced rider at all...yea im a newb. I have ridden xr70 and xr100, but they are slow peices of shit. I wanna get a bike, but i have a problem because i have nooooo idea what i can handle and i am in the middle of a growth spurt. I was thinking of getting a 250f of some kind because i heard they are easier to handle than 125 2 strokes. i know, im stupid for thinking i can handle something like that as my first bike, but i dont want to have to buy a new bike next year cause im already 5'8" 135 and im 14. PLEASE tell me what the best plan of bike buying would be!!!!!!!

???

well what they say is 125 2stroke = 250 4 stroke in speed and a 250 2 stroke = 450 in speed i dont know your very young if you were raceing a 125 and you fell of the bike you would pick it up better and faster and you could start it faster that is the diffrance if you are going motocross go yz125 i have one at the mo there cool go yzf250 if you are doing enduro way more power on the big hills i am getting one because i want to do enduro hope i helped you make up your mind
