the yfz is BUILT for racing. it is lighter, it has better parts, and it has a high performance motor. u ever notice the difference between an XR500 and a CRF250R? yes, it may have more cc's, but the motor is really built to be ridden that hard. thats why they call it it CHICK BIKE... Anyways, the RAPTOR would get its @$$ smoked. i know from experience and common sense.
Althought the raptor is a 660cc the yfz has a bigger bore displacment on it. the YFZs displacement is 11:0.1 were the raptor stock is 9:0.1, so almost equaling them out in displacement output. So in this they are close. However, if you put a big bore 11:2.1 displacment kit on the raptor, which they have available for a good price, you will most certainly smoke the YFZ 450 because you will bump the raptor from a 660cc to a 727cc.
I already know for sure that the 450 will beat a Raptor stock, so that part is out of the way. Now lets take some Raptor 101. The Raptor is only 9 to 1 compression stock and the 450 is 11.9 to 1 stock(so basically 12 to 1). In order for the Raptor to meet the standards of the U.S. forest services it also has a very small cam unlike the cam on the 450, because of the size of the 450 being smaller yamaha was able to put alot of compression and a bigger cam in it and still meet the standards of the forest services. Now take a motor thats 660 cc's like the raptor and bore it over to a 690, raise the compression up to 13 to 1, put a huge aftermarket cam in it, and port it. With this done to the motor the power output will be around 67 H.P. with the right guy doing the head work. Now take the 450 raise the compression to 13 to 1, bore it, stroke it 5mm, port it and everything els you want to do to it and the most they are getting out of the stroker 505's is 54 H.P., and thats a high dyno. The 450's running at Four Stroke Wars are running around 54 H.P. with custom pistons and cams. So the whole key to the story is yeah the 450 is faster stock than a Raptor, but once you get that Raptor worked on with a little aftermarket goodies the show is turn out the lights and the 450 is over no matter what you got done to it. At Four Stroke Wars they had a honda 450 that was bored to a honda 480 running on nitro methane and the whole works that just got its ass handed to it by a 780 stroker raptor running regular fuel, not to mention it would have lost to several other Raptors there that just didnt get the chance to race in that race. Oh and dont even try to go off on how the honda is slower than the yfz, the only reason why the yamaha is just a little faster stock is because the honda is lower compression stock, once you get the compression the same on the honda its all on who's the better rider, because both the yamaha and honda are designed and engineered the same exact way. In fact guess who won the 450 class at four stroke wars: the honda 450 which beat a 505 stroker yfz. The funny thing is the honda was only a 470. The weight of the 450 is anotther andvantage over the Raptor but 48 pounds doesnt make up for a bike that has had dynos up to 80 H.P. by stroker raptors running all motor and no special fuels. Anyone in the world who could get a 450 within 20 H.P. of a stroker raptor like that would earn himself a throne in Holy Wood. In other words it aint happening, because there is still no replacement for displacement no matter how you look at the picture. American hot rods prove that. No 450 in the world will dethrone the 4 out of 4 time Four Stroke War champion, The one the only Raptor.

Lets see here now that your piston is lighter and you have a short stroke your torque just whent down the drain, so hills are not your thing. Yeah your bore and stroke ratio is the same as a crotch rocket but you dont have the four pistons to get the rev that high, so your rev isnt all that impressive just as every single cylinder engine isnt.
