Street legal ttr 225

I am looking into purchasing a ttr225. One of the questions that came up is can it be street legal. Well, the dealers answer was there is a 50/50 chance because on the title it says for off-road use only. It is possible they will not let it pass inspection. I am sure laws are different in each state though. Good luck.

WHERE TO YOU LIVE??

WE USED TO REGISTER OUR ORV'S IN THE STATE OF VERMONT AND GET A LICENSE PLATE , THEN TAKE THE PAPER WORK AND TRANSFER TO THE STATE WE LIVE . VERMONT WAS BUSTED FOR DOING THIS LAST YEAR . YES THE MSO SAYS : OFF ROAD USE ONLY . THE ONLY MANUFACTURE THAT IMPORTS DIRT BIKES INTO THE USA THAT DOES'NT SAY :OFF-ROAD ONLY ON THE MSO IS A KTM . MOST DLRS WILL GET YOU A PLATE IF YOU WANT ONE . IF YOU ARE TRYING TO DOT A TTR IT WILL COST YOU $$$ TO MOD IT ,DOT HEAD LIGHT , TAIL LIGHT , BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH , SPEEDOMETER , DOT TIRES .BAJA DESIGNS MAKES A STREET LEGAL LIGHTING KIT FOR TTR'S AND THATS IF YOUR STATE WILL INSPECT IT AND PASS IT . CALIFORNIA JUST CUT OFF ON DEC 2003. YES IT SUCKS AND DUAL-SPORT BIKES SUCK SO WHATS A GUY TO DO? DRZ?? OR KTM .

until your are 18 you will no

until your are 18 you will not be able to ride the bike on the road. i tried the same damn thing with mine it will pass inspection but you cant get a licence until you are 18.

even when you could legally do it...

don't you think the ttr225 is a bit slow for the actual roads? sell it and get a enduro bike. converting will just cost more money that you wont get back when you sell it. put the money for the parts into ads to sell it.

sell your 225 and buy a honda

sell your 225 and buy a honda XR250L or similar enduro. The 250 does great off road and is plenty powerful on road, plus its gearing is much better suited for the road without having to buy new sprockets.

ttr225

I have the same bike. This same question is how I ran into your question. They used to sell a kit for street conversion. The Yamaha dealer said that it could not be converted. If it has the right tires and proper equipment, who is it to stop you? Call your local state potrol office with a series of questions. They are the ones who inspect vehicles. I've seen home made vehicles and wierd things made street legal. I want to just have a head light and taillight for night riding. Do you know where I can find that?

well...it's somewhat slow isn

well...it's somewhat slow isn't it. I've got a TTR 125 which is rather slow (top speed 50 :P).
On your bike, all though it may seem fast while riding it...compair it to a car and the car will surly go faster. The top speed of a TTR 225 is 70 MAYBE!
a Hyundai Elantra will go fast then the TTR...(well duh) compair that to other cars and that's the apidomy of most cars.
I'd recomend you upgrade your bike before converting it!
tip...take off the baffles...that'll make it go a little faster.

But if you still wanna do the conversion:

what kinda of a car do you have access to?
