not enough traction any ideas

i have had my ttr 125 for almost a year the only problem with it is that the traction really sucks i have a brand new tire on it and even when i hit hills full throtle 2nd it wont make it up when i ride my friends xr100 i can stop at the bottom of the hill kick it into 1st and make it up any suggestions for things to do that might help me get better traction?
