Hi guys! i am 16 years old and have a 02 Honda CR125... but now i want to get a new bike in the 250 2 stroke class (2 strokes ftw)
But id like some advice... Which would be the best bike... a CR250-KX250-RM250-YZ250-SX250.....Please need advice :) Also can u please tell me the average top speed of these bikes? the stock speed and what i could do to get more power into it...and how much it would top then :)
Ow and i have drove this CR125 for 4 years now since i was 12 and before that i had a Honda MT 85cc since i was 8... i shouldnt have a problem with a more powerfull bike should i?
Thank you

hey
okay ready for the low down. okay im the same as u 2 strokes. now i would tell u to stay with the 125s but u are not going to listin because i have seen this lad up my local wood on a 06yz125 and i mean he trows it into woops and berms and the hole lot and he comes out faster than any 250 and 450. but anyways i would go with the yz250 because they are known to be a brill bike alround, ktm have a really hard racing suspension so the suspension only works best when u ride it hard so if u are just cruseing u will get a sore bum. rm trust me you will find it really hard to sell one when u buy it. kx are not really a long lasting bike cause parts tend to wear fast, cr dont get another honda cause they are workin 2 hard on the 4strokes and the 250 will just be the same. top speed on stock u will hit 71-75 mph u can change the gear ratio out and u could top 120. u could stick rad valve into it. fly wheel into it, em anything really but trust me you wont need any of it. normal ppl buy fly wheels to tame them down. plus if u race u will defo have to get urself a set of them starting traction devices because u will be up on the back wheel at the starting gate if you dont. get a new yz125 stick a 10oz fly wheel weight into it and a rad valve system with a new fmf exhaust system on it and u will be away with it.
thx mxdave... yea i also thou
thx mxdave... yea i also thought the yz250 would be a good choice as it has a bit more power than the other bikes i think...im bored of hondas... ktm are just about the name in my opinion... suzuki isnt very powerfull... and kawasakis dont last...
Well as u said.. stick with the 125s.. well to be honest im a little bit bored.. im looking for more power so i can like triple jump not double if u know what i mean :P ... About the fly wheel... how much would this cost and would it be easy to install??? and about this traction device.. what is it all about? i wouldnt like to be on my back wheel at the starting gate to be honest.. but i dont want to lose much power either.. id like a strong baddass dirt bike that can controll its self :) sorry that im a begginer in the engeneering part but pro at racing :P
hey the traction devices just
hey the traction devices just compress yur forks at the begining of a race to make yur bike angle down a bit more and once u start the race u just press down a bit more on yur forks to bring them back up
heres a pic of em http://www.motoworldracing.com/Works-Connection-EZ-Holeshot.html
if i were u i would get a cr
if i were u i would get a cr 250
i have a yamaha yz 125
but if ur racing i hope u know u will be racin 450 4 strokes good luck with that one hey let me know how u do lololololol hhhahahahahah that should be funny hey dont get me wrong the the 2 stroke 250 is a really fast bike, but then again the only reall advantage over that 450 u have is that ur lighter
hey
yeah every pro says yamaha are the best allround bike. yeah i know i kinda went trough a 250 thing too u just want the power there to put it on the back wheel. u can cheak stealthy flywheels for them really good and work brill my friend has one in his 125 and it can keep up with the 250s. yeah i was talkin to my friend about that he says he would never take off on a starting gate without one because he would not be able to hold onto it, u just push the forks down and click the little buttion and it holds the forks at a down angle and then when u take of ur front will be down a bit and then u hit a bump or go into the frist turn the forks will rise back to normal height. well the yz250 will do that for u trust me, if not ktm but they are a hell of a lot faster. well ur better off buyin a bike that u want and like other than spending it on a load of crap. as for the 450 if you are a good rider they should not matter travis pastrana rides a 250 on the motocross track and he woops ass. david knight world enduro champ rode the ktm sx250 on the red bull last man standing and he came trough 1st and outa 100 ppl 30 finished. and thats outa 525s and the hole lot.
I already race 250 4 strokes
I already race 250 4 strokes and they eat my shit... 4 strokes in my opinion are for guys that cant handle the raw power... Thx for all the info guys.. i think ill just pop on that flywheel and traction controll as u guys said and ill be fine... i can wh00p 450 4 strokes easy ... they dont have the raw power... i can do almost anything with my 125CR... and im sure ill do the same on a 250YZ
By the way... can u say if it easy to install a flywheel ? I see that the traction controll seems to be about 100 pounds nice and seems not too hard to intall :) but what about the flywheel? easy? cheap?
if u are handy on workin on u
if u are handy on workin on ur bike if u buy a flywheel puller and u should be able to do it urself i think they give u instructions. as are as i know with the traction controle they are handy to put on. i dont really need them on a 125. you should really start lookin up flywheels on the net i forget the name of one of the sites but its all for flywheels on bikes email them and they will tell u the one u need and whats best for ur bike.
is a flywheel fair to put on
is a flywheel fair to put on for Races? or can u get disqualified?
Nope u can uses them all the
Nope u can uses them all the pros have them on there bikes so why not. Nobody would really know u had one till they rode it or else seen u on a straght with another 125 or 250 u would just go straght by them. the flywheel will stop wheelspin so u can just get traction and go straght on ahead.
hey
Go to www.steahlyoffroad.com and read up on it. Also email chuck i was askin him about the flywheel for my bike. but he will sure tell u anything u need to know.
Thank you Dave.. you have bee
Thank you Dave.. you have been a great help...but id like to ask u something more thats kinda off topic tho :)
I am from Greece in an islad of Corfu and we have motocross outdoor tracks on witch i race in the 125cc class and ussually win.. im experienced quite a bit... but im going to England for 2 months this summer cause my Relations are from England along with some friends and Grandparens and ill be getting my YZ250 from their also and racing on a local track... So id like to ask you... how can you become a proffesional racer on dirtbikes? I head that you can race on some local track and attend races or practice and stuff and one day if you are lucky ... or win a race... and sponsors are watching you and get impressed then they sponsor you and then you go travelling with them around Emgland lets say competing in races for a rookie championship or something? is this how it works? if not can you tell me how it does and should i just get a new YZ125 if im to start racing or still stick to a YZ250 and compete with more powerfull bikes thank you
well this is the way it is my
well this is the way it is my friend races a ktm sx250 and i live in ireland and he races extreme enduros (the hardest) he is sponced by a few places but you dont get big sponcers till you can show you can win. so i guess if you are handy on a 125 you should stick with the 125 and race the 125 races as 250s will be older more exprenced lads. well you will have to join a club then start racing comps and winning them, now to do that its some work as u need to keep attending all the races.but after all the racing if you came in the top 3 of the novice class then you move up to sportsman level or grad B something and once u keep winning and gettin better u will end up in the class A level and then you will start been invited to races ( my friend who races extreme enduro got invited to race david knight world enduro champ in endurocross in the RDS in dublin) but once u are well known you will start to get invited to stuff and you will gain spocers all the time. but like you really have to be hardcore into ur motocross to do all that.
i see ... So its like Junior
i see ... So its like Junior class then Cenior and then sponsors or something.... And u have to join a club and race at different tracks every weekend?
ok....I guess ill finish school first thats 2 more years then ill go to England...Join a club and try my luck if i suck ill go to University :P
yeah you have to pay for alot
yeah you have to pay for alot of the stuff urself. yeah you could be allover england racing not just on the one track. yeah i think u may finish up school first but keep practicin at it so when u start racing u will be good.
I would go with the honda or
I would go with the honda or the yamaha.
