Honda Crf150R vs. Ktm Sx105

Well we all know that the new 2007 crf150r beats the 85 2 stroke. Note not the crf150f but the crf150r they are totally different bikes. Who knows like how fast these 2 bikes are which one is faster. I know ktm is fast but can it keep up with the 150r? it spposed to be running the same speed as the cr125 so i think that the 150r is a lil bit faster what do you guys think?

150R gives ass kickin

i just bout a 150R and it is quik every wher in the turns off the kline and over the jumps i think that when compared they are pretty close put the 150R is a quiker bike but either way they will probably both get there ass handed to them in the 125 class

Just to set the story straight...

KTM does make an SX105 which is a SX85 frame with a 105cc two-stroke engine with around 30hp. The four-stroke CRF150R will run on par with your basic 85cc two-stroke. The KTM SX105 has a LOT more power than either the CRF150R or any 85cc two stroke using the same lightweight frame of an 85. The SX105 also has bigger wheels along with the bigger bore so it has to run in the unofficial race classes. My son has one and it has so much power that it's hard to keep the front wheel on the ground and can easily overshoot a double if you're not careful. His friends who ride bigger 125s and 230Fs couldn't believe it until they rode it. They all agreed it's a lot of power to control. It can easily keep up with a 125 two stroke or 250F four stroke on most tracks and trails depending on the experience of the rider. It's made for experienced kids who aren't big enough for a MX Lites class bike.

150r

i was at a race on sunday and they were runnin the 150r in the 85 supermini and 125-250f. they got absolutely slottered in the 85 and supermini and they shouldnt have even bothered with the 125-250f class.

umm, dude, you do realize that i ALSO was at a race not too long ago, and someone entered the 150r in with the 125-250's and it kicked ass, it got like 3rd. So you guys obviously are looking at some sucky guy riding this 150r, cuz this thing kicks ass. It's the best thing since sliced bread.

The way things are going

It's like this, four stroke thumpers are taking over motocross. It use to be all two strokes with 85s, 125s, and 250s. Well things change. Environmental concerns about emissions got the bike makers to switch to four strokes but it takes nearly twice as much displacement to get the same power in a thumper as in a two stroke. That's why the the new 250 thumpers only race against the 125 two strokes and 450 thumpers race the 250 two strokes. The CRF150R is the first thumper in the mini class. Eventually they'll all be running 150 thumpers, but not for a few years. In the hands of an experienced rider, the CRF150R will beat any 85 out there. In fact, it's expected that all Japanese makers will stop making two strokes altogether within a few years. However, KTM is going strong in the two stroke market because they are preferred for cross-country and trail riding because of the type of torque they produce and the lighter weight and handling. Most freestyle FMX riders use two strokes for that reason.

There's a lot more to comparing bikes than if one is faster than the other. Remember one thing in motocross - it's not how fast you go, it's how fast you get there. The suspension and control have just as much to do with staying on the track and getting through the rough stuff quickly as the engine does. But the most important factor is how good the rider is. A good rider on a slower bike will beat anybody less experienced on the fastest bike made.
