Brock Sellards steals win at Lazy E Arena

Shawn Clark makes it two in a row in the Lites class

AURORA, Ill., (Jan. 21, 2006) Honda’s Brock Sellards followed Kevin Johnson for all but three laps to win the AMA Arenacross class in Guthrie, OK. Team Faith’s Kevin Johnson got out to a blistering start to lead the field. Johnson had the near capacity crowd on their feet turning the fastest lap times of the weekend for 15 of the 18 scheduled laps. Sellards made his move in the whoops bouncing off tuff blocks for the pass. Points leader Chad Johnson rode to a conservative third place finish.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 21, 2006) – Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael, of Haines City, Fla., won his second consecutive Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series race in front of a sold-out (45,050 fans) Angel Stadium. Stewart Builds Momentum as Amp’d Mobile Supercross Returns to Phoenix

But Carmichael, Reed and other elite riders will play factor in the outcome

AURORA, Ill. (January 9, 2006) – As the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series prepares for its annual visit to Chase Field in Phoenix on Jan. 14, Kawasaki’s James Stewart finds himself atop the point standings after three decisive wins in the season’s three opening races.

Stewart’s torrid start has left series rivals Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed trying to find a way to stop this 20-year-old’s momentum and get themselves into the winner’s circle. Both riders have challenged Stewart numerous times, including the epic three-man battle waged last Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. In the main event, each rider would spend time in the lead, with four lead changes from lap five to 10, before Stewart took control down the stretch and cruised to victory.

Sellards Takes Two In Dallas, Sets Sites On Baltimore

Dallas Fans witness a Toyota AMA National Arenacross Series burner as Ohio racer hits his stride in year’s most exciting race-to-date!

AURORA, Ill., (Jan. 9, 2006) – An excited crowd at Dallas’ Reunion Arena was witness to quite possibly the best AMA Arenacross class race of the season when Thor/Honda/TUF Racing’s Brock Sellards backed up his Friday night win with an incredible come-from-behind performance to complete the two-race sweep of Round Five of the 2005/06 Toyota AMA National Arenacross Series.

Sellards, who trimmed back series point leader Chad Johnson’s once insurmountable points lead into the teens (17 points) with the 1-1 effort looks to be hitting his stride as the season returned from its one month holiday hiatus with some amazing racing in Dallas.

Fatal accident of 41 year old Australian Andy Caldecott (09.01.2006)

From KTM Press

Australian Repsol KTM rider Andy Caldecott fatally crashed on the 9th stage of the Dakar (Nouakchott – Kiffa).

The accident happened directly after the day off. This information has totally shocked us, we’re at a loss for words.

The terrible accidents in the past 2 years caused us to start with mixed feelings and question our rally engagement. The presenters of the Dakar have tried to make the rally safer together with several manufacturers. A tempo limit has been adopted, a GPS system which enables each rider to be located and to allow him to communicate with the presenter. Riders can have more rests now due to shorter tank stops. A pretty sportive rally until yesterday’s day of rest eclipsed the pain of the past - today we were brutally pulled out of our dream to make this rally safe.

Moto XXX Escapes Disaster and Finishes Well at AMA Supercross Opener

Less than a half of a lap into the new AMA Supercross season, Team Unbound Energy/Moto XXX was strapped in and going full speed on an emotional rollercoaster. In the very first heat race of 2006, Kyle Lewis and Timmy Ferry entered the first turn in the number one and two spots respectively. Unfortunately, things unraveled quickly. Sort of.

The third turn of the Anaheim 1 track sent riders into one of the most ferocious whoop sections seen on a race track in quite a while. The teammates had a host of factory stars behind them as they began negotiating the waste-deep moguls. Things looked good for both until about halfway through the section, where Ferry missed one. His front wheel dove, the rear came up and he went over the bars and into the dirt rodeo style. He jumped back up quickly, but couldn’t get his bike turned around until the entire pack had run away. Lewis on the other hand, continued to battle. By the end of the 8-lap heat, he held onto fourth place and transferred directly into the main event.

Stewart Wins Third Consecutive Amp’d Mobile Supercross at a Sold-Out Angel Stadium of Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 7, 2006) – Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., won his third Amp’d Mobile Supercross before a sellout crowd of 45,050 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. Honda’s Andrew Short opened the Western Region AMA Supercross Lites series with a main event win.

Honda’s Kyle Lewis, of Henderson, Nev., got the holeshot to start the 20-lap main event but it was Honda’s Ernesto Fonseca that jumped into the early lead. Fonseca, of Murrieta, Calif., led until a fourth lap crash removed him from the top spot, leaving the battle to series contenders Chad Reed, Ricky Carmichael and Stewart.

Dakar 2006: 8th stage: Atar > Nouakchott (07.01.2006)

The Dark Side of The Moon

For the 7th stage the competitors left Tan Tan very early in the morning. Around 02:00 PM the first riders were at the bivouac of Atar. But the stage was not ended. At midnight about 50 pilots were still in the desert, most of them almost sure they could spent the night far from the bivouac. Some of them decided to stop and to sleep a short, cold and troubled night. Some others proceeded very slowly. Many of all sentenced to the withdrawal. For all the night, time by time, a headlight coming from the dark announced the arrival of a pilot. The organizers decided to let the last riders leave for the next stage, after a medical check-up. Should they reach the bivouac at Nouackchott? And if, should they have the time to enjoy this area devastated by a sandstorm?

Dakar 2006: 7th stage: Zourat > Atar (06.01.2006)

The Bird is Still Flying

Cyril Despres started the today’s stage, although with a heavy taped shoulder. The KTM Gauloises last year’s winner of the Dakar has put in all his courage and temper in this race. Despres also took the start of the special test of 499 kilometres, one of the longest of the race, and maybe one of the most difficult. Protected by his team-mate Michel Gau, the irreducible Frenchman gritted facing intolerable pain and proceeded with the leading group. Despres pushed himself beyond the pain and crossed the dunes of the first very hard off piste section. At kilometer 257 he was signalled as stopped, but not defeated by yesterday’s injury. But he only reduced his speed in order to check the situation. The story is not finished. Despres regained some positions, and at the CP2 the delay of the French champion was less than 20 minutes, and only 30 at the finish. Without any doubt an exceptional exploit. His finish result is far from his possibilities, but the blue bird, even if one of his wings is broken, is still flying.
