AMTRA SA Victorian Big Trip

Victorian Big Trip
One could write a book about the escapades and adventures that were had, but I wont, unless someone volunteers. Remember what happens on the trail stays on the trail.

Needless to say a great time was had by all riders and back up crew. We had perfect weather each day, sun shine and high teens in temperature. There was no dust as there had been a deluge the day before the start which for a change made the trails rather muddy and slippery in parts. The rivers were flowing to say the least but that is another story.

Sunset Country Ride Report

Well what happened to all you keen trailriders out there. A long weekend and only 5 turn up Well 6 if you count Tom and OK 7 if you count Stoneman who came on the Sunday but without his bike so he cant really be counted as a rider.

Yeah I know it looked bad on the weather report but when there is an opportunity go riding is my motto.

As it turned out the weather was OK with sunshine on the Saturday morning.

Amtra SA Dergholm Ride

We arrived at Rose Neath camping grounds to find John and Yvonne gearing up for a first ride, after setting up their camping gear, and my parents (pit crew) having just finished erecting the camper trailer for me to bunk down in later that night.

After a quick chat, in which John seemed convinced he was going to get rained on, my little family headed off to have tea with my parents, and John and Yvonne headed off on their ride.

Kawasaki & Suzuki Not working?

Is it just me, or does it seem strange that Kawasaki and Suzuki are concentrating on getting existing models into each others line-up, when they woule be much better served by working on an actual competitor to the CRF/YZF/SX/etc models?

I mean, really who is going to buy a Green DRZ? why bother, get the original, and be proud. Smiling

And who is going to buy a yellow KLX 110? no self respecting kid would be seen dead on a "clone".

Ricky Carmichael & Danny Smith rack up the wins!

Southwick is sandy - very sandy. And rough - very rough. The track changes very much during the day too. It's a unique and unforgiving race track. Just ask James Stewart. Or Chad Reed. Or Mike LaRocco.

250: Ricky Carmichael dominated both motos today. Have you heard this before? RC and his Honda have been perfect so far this season - 8 motos, 8 wins, 200 points. Tim Ferry finished second in both motos to finish second overall on the big-bore Yamaha. He's also second in the point standings with 156. Third overall went to Ezra Lusk riding for Kawasaki.

Notes: How about Doug Henry? The former National Champion and Southwick 'home boy' raced today. He even had the lead in each moto! He finished seventh overall. Mike LaRocco returned to racing after being out with a broken wrist. He finished third in the first moto, but DNF'ed the second.

Practise Day

http://www.supermotard.com.au/ have organised a practise/coaching day as follows:

Just a reminder that we have a practice day/ coaching day available to all and that you need to register first.

There is a motorcross meeting on that Sunday 23 June and if you don't get passes first, you will have to pay an extra amount to get in. Be warned.

Certified MV coach, Cameron Donald will be instructing. Cameron is a serious front runner in Supersport at National level and a State dirt track champion. The new surface should be down by then along with the new layout.

Kawasaki & Suzuki Merger Bears Fruit?

Over at http://www.mcnews.com.au/ they have some pictures of what appears to be new Kawasaki motorbikes, quads etc.

Check it out. The pictures look pretty real, unlike some early doctored images of the KLX, with a DRZ engine Eye-wink
