Every 3 months our factory riders are invited to the Red Bull Training centre to control their physical and psychological condition. In our last test we wanted to make Casey Stoner, Ben Townley and Michael Ranseder a little surprise for the good results they did in the past weeks.

We went from Fuschl am See to the Salzburgring and Ben Townley could ride some laps with Michi and Casey on the road race bike. The eyes of all involved people became always larger when they saw, that Townley was only less than 2 seconds slower than Casey. Ben was impressed by impact to the body from riding a road racing bike. At the same time we should mention, that Ben has absolutely the best results of a motorsport athlete measured in the Red Bull Trainingscenter.

I rode the Sawmill enduro on Saturday. The End......
OK, key time was at 9:00 AM and I signed up on Friday night and made my way back to Ukiah to my room at the Motel 6. Back at the motel, I put number 15T on my bike and programmed my Checkmate. Then, I finished my beer and went to sleep. I got up at 6:00, put on my gear and headed out. The first stop was for gas and coffee. I picked up a Cliff bar for breakfast, because I really don't do breakfast. During my 38 mile drive to Middle Creek camp ground I forced myself to eat the Cliff barr and sipped coffee. Once I got there I taped my score card on my fender and checked my bike over. The tires needed air if I didn't want a pinch flat. Then, I checked my steering damper tower and it needed to be tightened. &^%$%^&*!!!!!!!! One of the bolts stripped and I had to remove the damn thing. No steering damper for me. So, I'm annoyed and I take of in 30 minutes. Oh well, I put it out of my mind and start thinking about how great the conditions are right now. It had rained in the area, but not too much. I was stoked to get on the trails.
Yesterday I went for a ride. A very fun ride!
Well, I stayed up friday night up to 1 am, installing new sprockets & chain on my XR250. It was the first time for me with a 48t rear sprocket. I was using 13/44, and happens that I had a brand new 48t rear, I bought that I thought it was too big and got another 44 and kept the 48 for future use.
Well, I decided it would be great not spending extra money on a part I already have at home, so I just bought a KMC chain (made somewhere on Asia) and a Riffel (national product) front sprocket. Also, replaced rear wheel bearings. Saturday morning I installed the chain (and took only five minutes to remove 3 extra links with a hammer and an old philips screwdriver) and went to a birthday party, lotsa cachaca shots with a trully great feijoada. That was so good!
Easter Ride Report by Mike Baxter from rec.motorcycles.dirt
The next enduro is looming ahead and I wanted more time on the KTM. I didn't bother inviting anyone along, because I was going to the Santa Clara County OHV park known as Metcalf. My goal was to get in some miles and tweak the suspension a little more. Metcalf is very roughand very small, making it great for testing. It's only 442 acres. Anyway, I was is no hurry to get there as it's only a 35 minute drive for me.
Plus, the weather was awesome and still is right now. I rode all the single track, and most of it twice or three times. I wanted to hit the nasty rough stuff to see how the bike would respond. I was pleased and think that I have a handle on the bike. I did something that I usually don't do very much. I hit the MX track. I think I pounded out about 40 laps before taking a break.

Prologue --
Approaching the base of the woods, and the various entrances and exits snaking to and from the top of the ridge above, I ponder silently what adventure might lie within. Having never been here before, I can only imagine. The trails disappear into the woods and there's no way to predict what horrors may lay beyond. Which path do I choose?
And at that instant I see two fellows emerge from one of the trails. They have much newer bikes than I, and look to be pretty skilled. But most importantly, they appear to know their way around. So as they turn back into the woods I quickly jump in line behind 'em.
I know its not a dirtbike, but it is quite interesting to see KTM putting their LC8 engine to other uses. It also sounds like it will be a very nice road bike.
But its so orange! :-)

A great ride report from Jim - Wudsracer on rec.motorcycles.dirt
After loading and fueling the truck on Friday, I got up and headed South on Saturday morning. 20 minutes later I crosss the AR/LA state line and set the cruise control on 55. I really enjoy books on tape when I'm driving to the races.
2.5 hours later, I stop at Reggie Berry's house. He lives about 8 miles south of Breezy Hills. We loaded his bike on the three rail trailer and head towards Forest Hills, some 50 minutes to the southwest of Reggie's.
The woods down our way are turning all shades fresh green, and the spring flowers and flowering dogwood trees just highlight the colors more. This is the prettiest time of the year for me in the deep south.
