i have only had my ttr125 for about 6 months. i find that it is hard to start. i just got out the manual to find out how to turn up the idle, but i hate to read books. anyone want to give me a quicker idea??????
Unfortunatley this is a common problem with these bikes - but with a simple fix. I have spoken to several mechanics that cant explain exactly how it happens - but can explain an easy fix. The problem seems to be that the gas goes bad in the bowl realitvely quickly because of its small size. The fix is to drain the gas out of the bowl using the drain screw. Shut off your gas valve - unscrew the drain screw a few turns until gas starts coming out - continue until gas stops draining (bowl empty) - screw in the drain screw - open gas valve to let fresh gas refill the bowl. Thats all there is to it. It should now start easily.
i raced my ttr in the 80 senior class and came out in 7th out of 11 people. The 80/85's will pull away on straight aways and jumps are easier for them but if you keep the speed up then you shouldnt have that bad of a problem. my suggestion is just get an 85 if your going to race it. also if you race the ttr then you would want better suspesion. if you dont, then your ttr is gonna go to shit liike mine did and get the crap beat out of it. its a playbike.
I have a TTR 125 and I had the same problem and it turns out it was the carberator was really dirtty so just get it cleaned and it should start first kick. It worked for me and I cleaned it 4 months ago and still starts first kick. try it.
me and a friend he owns a yz250f and he is all ways having to rebiuld it before me and it cost him $200 more then me to get a rebboe and a piston kit and that is so shit and i own a ktm250sx and my bike whips over his so i belive i have just corrected you comment...
I had an '84 CR500 which I thought was the fastest production dirt bike ever made. That was until I got the '04 KTM 525 EXC. I beat a CR500 last week pretty handily. I used all 6 gears and he used all 5. :-)
hey i got a TTR 125 as well and mine didnt start well at all but i took out the carborator and took it to a near by gas station and used the high pressure air and just gave it a good cleaning and got in all the little tubes now it starts first kick everytime
I have fitted a cr500 engine into a honda nsr250 frame for the street and just wanted to know how much horspower did you get out of you modified cr500 motor
Make sure your vent hose on your fuel cap is not kinked or pinched. I also shut fuel off and run carb out of gas after every use to keep the carb from getting gummed up.
