Ricky Carmichael, riding the Universal Studios/American Honda CR 250, is the 2002 AMA/EA Sports Supercross Series Champion!
RC has been the dominant rider in supercross during 2002. He won tonight's main event, and clinched his second consecutive 250 supercross championship. How dominant has Ricky been in supercross? He's won 10 out of 15 races so far this year, and 24 out of 31 races the past two seasons.
Ricky Carmichael continued his excellent form this year with another win over David Vuillemin who got second, and Jeremy McGrath who got third.
Jeremy got the holeshot and rode stongly for the entire race, showing that the arm pump problems of the start of the season are almost certainly behind him.
RC could end the championship hopes of McGrath & Viullemin as early as next weekend in Salt Lake City if it goes his way.
Nathan Ramsey clinched his first win on the CRF 450 Honda after Ricky Carmichael went down early in the main. Carmichael chased Ramsey for the rest of the race, but couldn't put a pass on him.
Jeremy McGrath rode well to bring up third spot.
250 Main Event:

2. Ricky Carmichael HON
3. Jeremy McGrath YAM
David Vullemin wasn't able to reach the podium this week, which sees Carmichael extending his lead to 24 points over Vullemin.
AMA Pro Racing and Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division today announced a seven year agreement for the 2003-2009 AMA Supercross seasons, extending the 28-year relationship between the two organizations. The agreement provides that AMA Pro Racing will continue to sanction all supercross motorcycle races produced and promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment in the United States.
After lengthy discussions, both groups concluded that working together was in the best interest of supercross riders, fans, sponsors, television viewers, race teams, AMA Pro Racing and Clear Channel Entertainment, and positions supercross for significant future growth.
Aussie Chad Reed continued his winning ways, passing Kelly Smith early in the St Louis round to dominate the rest of the event.
This is his Sixth 125 East win in a row, and has earned him the 125 East Championship.
Reedy has signed a new deal with Yamaha USA to ride in the 250 class in 2003 and 2004, and will probably race in that class for some of the remaining events. Visit http://www.supercross.com/news.php?id=77 for more information
