Gone!

Well, its been a while since i've posted on the site.

The news is that my trusty '02 WR250F is gone.

The question is what to replace it with? I dont want another 250 four
stroke, I'd like to go either for a larger capacity four stroke, or even
maybe a 2 stroke.

What do you reckon? Whats the hot ticket from the '05 models that will be
coming out?

Evanescence

Earlier this year, I took my daughter to see Evanescence in concert.

Silly me thought it was a girly band, and I would be sitting there bored.

However, it turns out that playing live, they are really a metal band with a particularly girly sounding lead singer.

I was quite impressed. There were also a couple of other bands playing - Full Scale, an Australian band, and Finger11, out of Canada (I think).

Overall it was quite a good night, with the first two bands really going off, and Evanescence topping it off.

Here are some links to checkout:

Changes

As you may have noticed, I've done some changes to the theme of dirtbike.ws.
Some things are not yet working 100% with the new theme, such as the "New"
indicator on comments.

I'm working on it, and it will be back soon.

Let me know what you think of the new layout.

VOR530 Review

Since before I bought my 02 WR250F almost two years ago, I've been eyeing off the VOR 530 & 400/450 bikes with a keen eye. I got a good deal on the WR, and so the VOR went out the window for a little while, but with reviews like I've been reading lately, I'm starting to have wicked thoughts about those black weapons again.

The Australian distributors are pushing these bikes a bit, so checkout some of the reviews here:

Ebay

OK, Its not to do with dirtbikes, just a bit of a rant.

I occasionally buy and sell things off ebay, heck they have enough
items/transactions there to last a few lifetimes.

But why is it so goddam slow? And i'm talking about just the intro page, my
ebay etc.

Its not like there is heavy graphical content! I understand that pictures in
items for sale will take longer, and have no problems with that.

But just by using it and browsing around, I have to conclude that its the
slowest site on the 'net.

It looks like its running Microsoft IIS, perhaps thats the problem, it

Port Gawler

Bike type
2002 Yamaha WR250F

Sunday the 28th. Amtra Port Gawler ride.

Officially, the ride would be cancelled if it was over 30 C, but I knew that a
few would still tough it out, even if it did get that hot.

The weather forecast was 32 C and high winds. Oh well, I'm sure it wont
actually get that hot out there.

So I dragged my sorry self from the bed. Darn, I must have had too many
preparatory wines the night before, things were looking a bit grim. However,
as it was the end of daylight savings, I had an extra hour to spare for
recovery.

Top Tens

I found these top ten reasons why different bike riders dont wave back on the newsserver. Thanks truckracer!

Top Ten Reasons Why Harley Riders Don't Wave Back

10. Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
9. Leather and studs make it too hard to raise arm.
8. Refuses to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
7. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off.
6. Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
5. Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
4. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by Honda.

Front Tyres

I was recently asked by a friend about front tyres. I've got a Michelin on, but its DOT approved and quite stiff. He's got a Pirelli MT32 which is not DOT approved (I dont think).

It seems that all the DOT ones are very stiff. The Pirelli MT18 for example is also quite a stiff tyre.

What brand of tyre do you use? Vote here. If you have a favorite tyre, let us know by adding a comment.

There has been a little discussion on this before see here
