Husqvarna Racing’s Reece Westle has taken out the Intermediate Open class of Round 8 of the Shell Advance Sunshine State MX Series held at Echo Valley over the weekend. Westle’s last round win also secured him second position in the Intermediate Open Championship which was finalised yesterday.

Westle got off to a rocky start in the first of two heats yesterday, crossing in 10th position after the first lap. Despite the unfortunate start to the race, Westle managed to claw his way back into contention, eventually crossing for third position despite two falls in the process.

The second heat was the perfect race. Westle led from start to finish, and at one point had opened up an eleven second lead over second placed rider Brock Winston.

Husqvarna Racing’s AJ Roberts has wrapped up the inaugural Australian OffRoad Championship after finishing 2nd and 4th outright in rounds 7&8 held at Aratula over the weekend.

With two rounds remaining in the Series, Roberts has accumulated enough championship points to post an unbeatable lead after only eight rounds of the ten round series. The weekend’s results have increased Roberts’ lead to 51 points over nearest rival Jehi Willis, and with only 50 points available in the last two rounds, the Australia OffRoad title has been secured.

Husky Chix team rider Brooke Thiemann again impressed onlookers at Round 2 of the Thunder X Series held at Hervey Bay over the weekend, finishing equal 3rd on points for the round, keeping her in 3rd position in the Championship.

The Women’s Unlimited Championship was always going to be a tough battle, especially with the return of Tamara Gray fresh from racing in the US.

Thiemann’s consistency in the wet and rough conditions, saw her avoid any incidents as both championship contenders Jesse Slade and Rebecca Bateman came unstuck during the heats.

“I actually really enjoyed the conditions out there today. The track was well watered early in the morning, but as the rain came down later in the day the track became more challenging.

Husqvarna Racing’s AJ Roberts extended his championship lead at rounds 5 & 6 of the Australian Off Road Series at Wodonga over the weekend.

Roberts, fresh from the ISDE team camp at the AIS facility, was confident of a big weekend despite carrying several injuries suffered at the Queensland Enduro the previous week. The absence of nearest rival Brad Williscroft, although unfortunate, offered Roberts the chance to put a sizeable gap between himself and second place; a chance that he grabbed.

With weeks of rain leading up to Round 5, the technical track was extremely water logged making the racing a little trickier, especially through the tight sections. Roberts lapped up the wet conditions with a flawless ride through all sections of the day, taking the outright win by over 25 seconds ahead of second place Jehi Willis, with Ben Grabham filling the podium.

'At the MXGP at Matchams on Saturday, Paul Rowlands and Scott Gardner of Innovate Honda informed me that they were ceasing my contract for this year. This didn't come as a major shock to me as throughout the year the results that myself and the team were expecting never happened, I certainly haven't been happy with my performance this year and an amicable decision was made to part company.

I cannot complain that the bike I was riding had been holding me back. We worked hard on testing, had good settings and most importantly I want everyone to know that my speed is still at a high standard, my lap times prove this when practicing midweek with other team members.

Newly announced 2005 ISDE team member Blake Hore will make the trip North this weekend (Jun- 3/4) were the Christensens backed Yamaha rider will prepare for his second crack at the famed Finke desert race in the Northern Territory the following weekend.

"After last weekend's Stockman's Enduro, were we slopped around in the mud, the wide open desert will be a dramatic change, but one I am looking forward to" said the 19-year-old.

"Stockman's is always a tough event and I did pretty well with 6th outright, the leaders of the series, Willis and Williscroft, are really on top of it at the moment but I am happy to be hanging in with third outright in the championship. I am still learning every day and these guys have loads of experience so I just soak up as much as I can and try and move forward. With four rounds to go I am pretty confident I can finish in the top three in the championship in my first Pro season."

Husqvarna Racing's Troy Herfoss has kicked off his AMA season with a podium result, finishing 2nd in the Unlimited Class at the first round held in Wisconsin. The weather played a major role in the day's racing with all races being declared wet as the rain came down. Although it was Herfoss' first ever wet race, he rode like a wet weather veteran, edging out World Superbike team mate Leonardo Bagnis for second and narrowly missing the top position.

"I was already a bit nervous, being my first ride in the AMA, but then when it started raining I was even more anxious as I've never raced in the wet before. The bike (Husqvarna SM510R) had an awesome wet setup and I just cleared my mind and rode." Replied Herfoss when questioned about his first race

It’s hard to believe that a month has passed since the 2nd annual Mini Moto SX event in Las Vegas. As expected, some of the most talented and enthusiastic pit bike riders in the world showed up to wage small scale war on a purpose-built track. True to their word, the Moto XXX/A-Ride mini team launched a solid offensive in the Orleans Arena and proved to be a major force in multiple classes.

Fans of the Moto XXX/A-Ride team may be surprised to learn that mini racing is not a full time occupation for any of its members. Their rock star image at the races stems from the natural charisma of each team member, not six-figure contracts. Nevertheless, the riders try to maintain a certain aura, which may explain the very unpunctual nature of this particular release. Either that or they’ve been so busy testing new parts and settings that they just didn’t have

Husqvarna Racing's young gun, Jake Magee, took out all three races in the Lites Class at round one of the Supermoto State of Origin series held at Oran Park yesterday. The Oran Park circuit is a favorite of Magee who also recently took out the Lites class at round one of the Supermotard Extreme Queensland Championship.

"I enjoy racing at Oran Park and I've done some testing here in the past so I know it quite well. The tighter chicane through the dirt section this weekend was a nice tricky change." Magee commented regarding the Oran Park circuit. "I'm really pleased with the results this weekend. The bike (Husqvarna Racing SM250R) was beautifully setup which made the ride a little easier."
